  1. i remember you saying the same thing when i bought mine last december. i dont think audi have actually released any official dates, specs, pictures or even intentions of produsing a new s3/rs3 yet, so while normally saying 'wait for the new one' is a good argument... in this case i think they will hold value for atleast another year or so.
  2. anyone seen my old corrado around? Classic Green VR6 storm look a like. M418 LYX sold it to a guy in chelmsford area (i think). he was on the forum for a while under the name FORTY but i have heard nothing of it or him for several months now... just wondered if it was still in one piece after i put all that time, effort and money into it!
  3. cheers kev black is nice... but black and silver dont seen to fetch as much money as nogaro blue or merlin purple. reds and greens are seem to be the lowest value. also. the interior. you could either have full leather in black (like mine) or cream... or you could have half black leather with silver, blue or yellow alcantara... now there was no price difference (apart from cream was extra i think) but the full leather definately seem to be more desirable in the second hand market... as does the bose hifi upgrade. face lift was in 2001 and the cars got slightly different interiors and different headlights (one piece clear glass as opposed to the older two piece with the non 'crystal' glass) and rear lights got a clear section for the indicators as opposed to the all red pre face lift. hope that helps a little.. i have seen s3's go from as little at £9k for a high mileage early model. generally speaking though post face lift low - average milage cars start about £13k
  4. and mine isnt very nice!!?? cheeky bugger just look out for good service history. the haldex 4wd unit needs to be done every 20k. oil and oil filter... if that has been neglected then be warned! also if its been chiped then servicing should be every 10k not 15-20k as the manual states ... and lots of em have been chiped. I think water pumps normally go around that time aswell and thats a few hundred to get that done at audi. clutch is also a weak point, especially if its chipped. what year is it? if you send some pics or give me a link i can tell you if its a good deal. you have a rough idea at market value from mine. 2001 face lift with 51k and IMO very very good condition and mine IS worth £14k
  5. boring... so much for it being r34 or even r36 as speculated
  6. spot on. marriage isnt too expensive... its the house (either buying or renting not sure which yet) and the emigration stuff and the fact she cant work till were married....and paying off all the flight costs from seeing her for the past few years!!! plus i never planned on keeping the s3 long anyway... dont want to loose too much in depreciation. I hadn't ...... untill now... that looks so mean! has it had a custom front end or is that how they all look for that model!
  7. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll? ... 4561346575 nice....
  8. fiat... yeah i will look into the possibility of a golf vr6 then... no doubt i'll get the modding bug again though and it will end up costing me thousands!
  9. so kev you reckon a mk3 golf highline (vr6?) kinda back to where i started... but worse... i mean i have done the corrado so the golf will always seem a bit common. Im thinking seriously now about the 406 coupe... under £4k for th 3.0 v6 either that or just a real shitter for a year or so... :(
  10. im getting married  So i need to find out if this 1999 bora is a 2.3 V5 10v or a 2.3 V5 20v??
  11. 10v being the V5 engine??? my s3 is the 1.8t 20v and the bora is the 2.3 v5 (as in 5 cylinders)
  12. As some may know im selling my car. I still want a bit of speed and luxury though. whats the 2.3 v5 engive like? worth looking at? i have seen a rather nice bora v5 for sale and with my rs4 wheels i reckon it will look pretty mean but just wondered what it will go like. cheers
  13. see signature. what it doesnt say is my first car was a pug 305 1.4. i nicknamed it the boat due to the time it took to stop once i threw out the anchor and the way it pitched and rolled when i so much as even thought about turning a corner!
  14. thanks for this... how would you rate it against a tape adapter if you have ever tried one of those? does the signal get muddled at times? so it doesnt take power from the ipod? instead uses its own batteries of the car changer?
  15. the dension takes a line out feed (so you can have your ipod volume down low to conserve battery) and just plugs into the cd changer input to give you L and R channel sound input. it doesnt transfer each file. i would get the dension as you can specify just a cable and not have a cradle on your dash but i dont think i have room for the plugs and wires behind my headunit now i have installed my nokia handsfree kit.
  16. kev, the dension icelink will give you a direct link to any headunit and will allow you to browse songs using the ipods controls still (dont have to use the headunit controls atall. best of both worlds and its £100
  17. thought i would share this i have a 4gb 2nd gen ipod mini and an audi s3 with symphony 2 headunit and the bose package i currently use a tape adapter that i got from maplins for £7 and just plug it into the headphone socket on the ipod. with the EQ set to off and the volume on full i get a pretty decent sound with good bass and trebble although it is noticabley quieter than a cd (ie if i play coldplay x&y in the cd and then switch to the recording on the ipod i have to turn the volume on the headunit up 2 or 3 notches to get the same audiable volume) i hate clutter and wires so i thought i would try the griffin itrip which i bought from ebay for £25. i have heard mixed reviews on this so i thought i would try it myself it is easy enough to use. plug in and go. set the radio to 87.9 and press play on the ipod. sure enough you can hear the music on the ipod and at times it sounds just fine.... but then you get a booming or sometimes a high pitch whistle or sometimes mild static or sometimes if your lucky... a mix of all of them.. i loaded the software (that enables you to change the frequency that the itrip transmits at) and then tried a few other frequencys on the radio .... all with the same result. so in short.... i am going to stick with the tape adapter which gives a nice clear constant signal (even though there is a little hiss in the silent bit between songs) i know that there is a better link... the dension icelink but that is atleast £100 and to be honest i dont think i have anymore room behind my headunit for cables and i dont want a cradle on my dash so the tape adapter will have to do. hope this helps anyone thinking of getting an itrip cheers Nathan
  18. yeah i was lookin at the list...and there is a steady 70 bhp increase over each of my previous cars mathematics states i need to get something with 340bhp next to keep the trend going
  19. no this will do for now.... just got to get a bigger anchor to stop the thing now.
  20. DV is the diverter valve....like a dump valve but with out the chav styleee psts noise the OEM one is week and with the extra heat and pressure of the remap i chose the Viper DV that amd sell
  21. just got back from amd before 216bhp 210lbft after 270bhp 270lbft very happy car is completely different.... feels like a bigger better engine. i also chose a black viper DV to cope with the extra pressure and heat will post some graphs up later...going for another drive now
  22. just seen this thread... any more comments on the system? cant you use your own shampoo in the gadget and then just utilise the water softner to avoid water marks
  23. My friend used this on his MR2 at the weekend and was well impressed the cleaning side is not really different to normal soapy water in a bucket.... ... but it has a water softener / purifier so when you rinse it all off the water doesnt leave any run lines or water marks beats having to chammy (i always spell that word wrong) the car down afterwards anyone else used it on their cars?
  24. Just got back from a great day at snetterton with the UKD1 teams got in as a press person so got full access to the cars and the best photo points i recommend this event to anyone that is into cars going sideways  more details http://www.racecar.co.uk/optdriftclub/ few pics and a vid (right click and save as please) http://nathanwillits.com/drifting/vid.AVI i will do all my pics and vids tomorrow when i have more time. cheers Nathan
