1. Muck off is an expensive way to by the stuff, which as far as I can tell is just a citrus cleaner like Virosol. Virsol works out about £13 delivered for 5L from the likes of jantasic.co.uk, or even cheaper if you find your local Clover Chemicals distributor, about £7 for 5L.

  2. Think the water softener works best using the supplied shampoo, as it must be a special formulation.

Some of the people that have used it says it works OK, other have has issues with it as it seems so strip some treatments that you might have used on the car, such as glass treatment etc.

At the end of the day, it is meant for Mr. Average who doesn't clean their car that often, let alone wax/polish it.

  3. Can't buy Swissol in the shops, only mail order. PM/email me if you are interested in any products.

What I would advise people to do is firstly clean off the wheels with either some Wonder Wheels or Virosol (MC2), and then clean the wheels properly getting little bits off them using a Paint Rubber (clay bar), then prime using the Swissol Cleaner Fluid, then coat with the AutoBahn Wheel wax.

As Kev stated above, then much will then just wipe off easily, without the use of chemicals.

  4. If you have been happy with the work in the past, and his previous prices, then just do it.

Who is the bloke BTW, might have to add him to the list of decent bodyshops in the area :)

Remember that he is charging you not only for his labour, but for the paint and other bits that might be required. Also your not paying VAT, so you are doubly lucky and £25 per hours is very, very good.

  5. Sonus DAS - PC7424 kit from Autopia!

Got a result from the Autopia people!!!!

If we can get 10 people in the GB, then we can get a 20% discount on the item, which in this case is the Sonus DAS.

    autopia_1841_782618.gif

When we have 10 people, we can apply a promotional discount code when you make your individual purchase though a web link. The discount is applied to the goods before the carriage is added on.

Roughly this works out as follows:

    DAS kit = £120 delivered

    DAS kit + 1 spare Green + 1 spare Blue pad = £131 delivered

    DAS kit + 2 spare Green + 2 spare Blue pad = £142 delivered

Remember the exchange rate is about $1.90:£1 at the moment, so make use of it!

It might be a good idea to get another green and blue foam pad, as these are the two that you will use most often.

The discount will be valid if product purchase is over $170 and includes at a minimum Sonus DAS Polisher Kit. Other products can be ordered with it.

Each persion will make their own individual order up and then apply the promotional code that I will supply.

Note that this is a 110v appliance and you will need an appropriate transformer and extension cable from Screwfix, at about £50

I am going to post this on a couple of other forums as well, so we might not need 10 from here... .....I already have a number of takers elsewhere, so if only a few people on this forum are interested in this, then we will get the discount 8)

  6. If you know anyone that has a Porter Cable 7424, borrow that. Otherwise be VERY carfuly using a rotary buffer, as you can do far more dame with this in a very short time. You can burn through the paint and make swirl marks quicker than Tiff can do a doughnut!

I would suggest that you firstly try a Paint rubber, especailyy if the paint suface is bitty or rough to te feel, and then get hold of something like Klasse All-in-One from Alex at seriousperformance.co.uk, and try that.

T-Cut is nastly stuff with the metallic version not much better.

Remember it is just the laquer layer on top of the actual paint that has dulled over time. With the right products it will come back.

If you are in Halfords and it is one that does the Meguiars range, get the Stage-3 kit and give that a try. Much, much better than A/G.

Failing all that, talk to me about some Swissol bits....

    John.

  8. It's Back!

    The famous MC2 multipurpose cleaner.

As most of you know it can be used to clean your wheels up a treat, but it can also be used vert effectively to:

    Clean the engine bay

Clean the door shuts on both side (hinge side especially)

Clean heavy soiling off the car prior to re-waxing

Clean the cooker (yes you have to clean it sometimes)

    Clean the patio

    Clean the floor

    and of course your wheels

in fact you can probably think up more uses than I was able to in 30 seconds!

Available in 5L containers as before.

Offer price is £27, with £1 forum fund donation.

    PayPal price is £28.15.

However....if you want to collect it from me at a meet or you know someone that can get it to you, then we can get the price down to £21 (PP=£21.94) and the forum donation will go up to £2.00 , due to the carriage charge being large due to the weight..

I will need 15+ takers to get this price, as I am doing the shipping this time.....

Please add you names to the thread in the normal manner.

Also got some info about wheel brushes and dispensers.

For a double action trigger spray (good quality): £3 (PP £3.31)

For a large natural bristle type brush: £4 (PP £4.34)

For a firm plastic bristle type wheel brush: £7.50 (PP £7.97)

Please can you edit your previous posts if you would also like a trigger spray and/or a brush.

    John

  9. It might also be one of the sensors that checks the hi/low pressure in the system, and if that fails or goes to earth, then the system won't work either. Think this is the current problem with my Fathers A4, as the diagnostics come up with a pressure sensor fault.

It may also get picked up on diagnostics on the VR6 via VAG-COM, but don't know to what level the diags work on the VR compared to other later models.

Defo get it checked as a condition of sale though, if you are really interested in the car.

Remember to also get a new MOT, as this will check the overall condition of the car and especially the emissions.

    John.
