I know it's wise after the event, but best to do the rubbers first then polish/wax the car, then it will just come straight off.

Gas flowed manifold to mate up with the new exhaust down pipe.....Milltek exhaust.....the list of modes for the charger area is almost endless, ranging from normal rebuild through to stage-'n', extra oil cooling, rerouted intercooler, smaller pulley + remap and more..... give John Mitchell a ring a have a chat.

If you want to travel to Guildford, try Ian Bannings and also talk to Andy Bryant who works there, as he is a VW nut and had a VR6 C for a while as well, so knows a bit about fitting alarms etc to VW's.

Make sure you get a 2 stage cleaner for your leather, with out any petro chemicals in it, and use it according to the instructions. Have found that the A?G stuff can produce mottling on some leather interiors.

TBH the best thing to do is what Rodders does, as you are removing all the muck on a daily basis before it has had time to bake on.

However, on a more practical note, not many people will do this due to time constraints or other reasons (wife / kids / girl friend / knackered, etc).

Wheel clean disks as Henny has pointed out are a huge NO NO, due to the potential overheating of the brakes due to lack of airflow over them through the wheels. Back when they were going, BRM used to remove these items on a service and refuse to fit them, and just put them in a bag in the boot. Surprising that so many people still use them, and then wonder why their brakes don't work. "Yeah but it saves me cleaning the wheels mate!"

If you are going to be in Guildford from next week and for the summer, then go to Ian Bannings and ask for Andy Bryant (ex C VR6 man) as he is a good guy and knows his stuff and most of all, will take care of your car cos he loves VW's.

As has been stated, any wax is better than none.

Swissol now have a dedicated wheel wax called Autobahn wax, with also contains PTFE. It has been rigourously tested on the German Autobehns and race tracks to get the formula right.

Easy to apply and lasts for a good time.

General cleaning of the wheels though should be done often with just wash mix if the wheels are in good conditiona and waxed. The dust should then come off easily. Leave it a long time (more than a week) especially when the weather is warmer, and it will then start to be harder to remove.

Use of acid wheel cleaners (wonder wheels etc) each time you wash the wheels should be avoided whereever possible.

Have some lovely smelling pepermint wheel cleaner concentrate if anyone is interested......

You are not spending over £100 on just wax BTW, you get lots of other bits as well! The wax starts at £39.

If you are getting lots of powder from the Cleaner Wax, then you are using it wrong. You should be buffing it off BEFORE it dries, then it won't go powdery. If you can't buff it off in time, then you should do a smaller area.

On another forum some people were also sayign that some Halfords are dot stocking it any more, and this may be due to the problems between Zymol Inc, and Zymol UK/Turtle Wax. Have a look on the zymol.com website.
