Problem with the classifieds!!!!
Toohottotrot replied to Toohottotrot's topic in Site Comments and Questions
Perhaps people should post their email address in the advert or even a mobile number? There have been several parts and even cars, no one gets back to me....I thought I had ceased to exist!...........I see dead people! Sorry :rolleyes:it's not dead people, just the quattro forum. -
There has been a problem with messaging someone over ads for a while now. I've wondered why no one gets intouch with me when I offer to buy! All they receive is an empty PM!

This new SORN law has got more people confused than the digital switchover! It's simple: If you use your car on the public roads, tax and insure it. If the tax has run out, declare it SORN (takes a couple of min on-line) Don't use or keep it in a public place. So driveway, garage etc. If it's not being used and is sorn insurence is up to you, is the car likely to be stolen or catch fire where it is? As Jim said........If it's taxed insure it!......................If it's not insured why is it taxed, surely you are not driving it, so cash the tax in! Simples! I could really confuse you with the Aussie system........compulsory third party, green slip, pink slip, Fully comp on top of your compulsory third party, if you want it.....yep two policies on one car! And best of all.............STAMP DUTY when you buy a car.......even secondhand!!!!!

Spoken with the eloquence that only the Europeans can give to the English language. :) Great shame as I was looking forward to seeing your mk1 but no worries anticipation of the mk1 will only add to the pleasure of the eventual debut! ;)

Maybe I should translate from Australian: It's Vanfest here in Malvern this weekend, it's very busy lot's of people have turned out for the show. So to anyone who's thinking of going, it should be a good day out. The weather is a little overcast but not too bad, so I may have a run over on my Madge scooter, if the battery lasts. Failing that I could use the Zimmer frame! Now I'm getting towards 40 do I have to Like Abba? -

Why would I be old? Cos I don't like Right Said Fred or Abba?..........are they for young people? -
Hi Eric, which car are you bringing? Is the mk1 back on the road yet? Will be good to catch up. :) Mj

Well it's that time of year again here in Malvern,Vanfest weekend! We have been inundated with air cooled vans since monday! I've tried to catch one by digging a big pit and covering it over with a black sheet but the buggers are driving on the grass......anyone got a big rat trap? I can't take Rado or Rocco out as they keep chasing them and snapping like a pair of pitbulls! Apparently they are expecting 8000 vans, I didn't know there were that many left in the world? One thing you have to admire them for is they know how to have a "meet" and party, people have turned up from all over the world. Just a couple of niggles though......I can hear Right Said bloody Fred from my garden, and it will get worse tonight as its Abba night......AAAAGGGGGHHHHHH! Don't you just love the smell of rust and the "put, put, put" of aircooled vdubs in the morning!? I'm too sexy for a kombi......too sexy for a Kombi!!!!!!!:bonk:

Sunday the 18th....next week! It's on here, and with the scirocco register again. I will be there.

I took the transporter from Birmingham to Glasgow, back down to Worcester then back to Brum. £95 for the day/ 24 hours. You get 250 miles included in the price then I think it was 9p a mile for any over. They do around 30mpg loaded with a rado! I picked it up around 9am and had it back at 9pm. I thought it was good value.
-
Ouch! Mines £250, modified on a 3000 mile classic policy......probably the only benefit of getting older! The "good" news it will happen to you too!

I have just purchased a brand new rear axle for my VR6. Any ideas on a better than standard paint finish to have applied? I want to protect it better but keep an original look. Thanks, Mj

Clunk on full lock is most likely drive shaft joint, as for mpg....doesn't seem too bad to me.

Hire a self drive transporter. I use these people: http://www.transporterhire.co.uk/

If it is leaking, probably better to replace in pairs across the axle anyway?
