  1. I could add a lot to this, but I will try to be brief. I joined the CCGB earlier this year, I got nothing except a membership number and sticker. As Kip is aware I had to "badger" for my membership number, as after telling the insurance company they requested my number. I private messaged three times on the CCGB site and received no reply, tumble weed blows down the streets of that site! As for no "clique" in the club, look at it from an outsiders point of view, the circle of chairs at the Malvern Festival was a classic example! But having said this, and being a member of several forum/clubs (should that be "fora"?) It is not an idiosyncracy of the CCGB alone. The "bitching" on the Audi Turbo quattro forum persuaded me to sell the car, and never darken their forum again, and none of it was aimed at me! It was too depressing to continue reading. The Scirocco world is just the same, only the "in crowd" get their car pics used for articles, even though other people have nicer cars! As for the people that run CCGB, I understand that people's lives are busy but a little effort would be better than none? If I am being too harsh then I appologise in advance, but thats how it looks. Eric (Tempest) seems to work hard organising events.......only to have almost no one turn up at some events!!!!! Surely this is where the members play their part? Why own the car if you are always too busy to attend? People complained that the Malvern festival "wasn't what it used to be"! The answer is in the hands of the enthusiasts, turn up, make the effort, make it busy. Or just say "I'm not going anymore" and the event will die. I have tried my best to take part this year, being newly back from Oz, I thought it would be a good way to meet like minded people and make some good friends. So I have brought the cars out only to find in some cases I was almost the only one there!! I have a pic of our solitary mk1 rocco in front of the Coventry transport museum, besides Tempest only I turned up! It was a sunny day, a great day to show off the cars to the general public. Coventry, being in the centre of the country is surely not too far for most people? As for no one submitting articles for the Sprinter mag, I had no idea that people could or even how to go about this? Lack of information? Maybe whoever is responsible for the articles should ask members if they have something worthy? I put a few pics of my summer trip to the "med" with the Corrado and a few words on here, would it have made an article? It was only scratching the surface of our trip, lots more pics and video could have been shown. I got the impression no one was that interested? To end on a high, I like this forum, people seem more than willing to share knowledge and help each other where they can. One unfortunate side effect of the modern world and the internet is that people no longer socialise face to face. I said I would be brief, didn't happen did it? I have no answers, and probably write a load of cr*p too! Mj ;)
  2. I just spot my self in shop windows as I drive by........I look well cool!:afro:
  3. I agree Andy, it say's and always has......"to and from"..........no ifs, buts or ands. And I have exactly that situation next week, my MX5 is going for it's mot, which ran out last month, so did the tax. I will get it tested but not tax until 1st October. If I get stopped I can prove the test was pre booked.
  4. Yep, splash is on the opposite side to the sports centre, so you were spotted! We live near the barnards green area and scare the locals with the noisy Corrado and Scirocco:thumbleft:
  5. Heading up the hill just after the pear roundabout, near the sport centre.
  6. Blackberry in Malvern this afternoon at 4 20........we were in the blue Lupo GTI going the other direction.
  7. Cancel your insurance within 14 days and you will be charged a fee. Read the small print, they charge around £60 admin fee.
  8. The man speaks the truth.......take him up on his offer!
  9. Three litres of g12+ is about right. Mj
  10. Oooo treading on very thin ice criticizing the 16 vale, I'm sure you will be told about the shortcomings of the G60 any moment now! lol!! Now on to Redditch.......what is it for?.......I went there once, I was hungry and looking for a KFC. I drove around and around, the place is a big roundabout with lots of dead ends! And roads named Zone A or area D and such like! I couldn't find my way out so I asked a guy at the side of the road. "How far to the motorway?" I enquired......."Don't know no one ever came back to say!" Was his reply!........ Anyway welcome to the world of Corrado
  11. If I were nearer I would bring my tools and give you a hand. As for a recon engine, a company on ebay has been offering complete 2.9 recon engines for £1000. After I bought my latest VR this summer I wondered if I had bought the right one, it needed work to bring it to the level I wanted. So I looked around at ones twice the price, they still needed the same amount of work to bring them to a good standard. As in the subframes weren't as rusty as mine but rusty enought to need sorting. So I decided I had the right car and slowly it's being sorted.
  12. It's that they have changed the law so you now get an automated fine, you don't need the cop's to catch you now just the data base!
  13. As Gaz say's it's legal to go to and from a "pre arranged" mot but you must have insurance.
  14. From the pics the car looks in pretty good shape and thats 90% of the battle. The engine/ gearbox is the easy bit. Someone's gonna get a good buy!
  15. I reckon that most people would be surprised to find that they are getting no where near 190 bhp with their VR6 now, unless it's very well looked after. Yep I saw that 2.9 on ebay and around ten 2.8s. So I would buy that but if no other were avalable I would stick in the 2.8, look around for a 2.9 or as mentioned the later OBD2, then rebuild the 2.9 with lots of goodies at my leisure. So to get the Corrado running properly for around £300 seems to me a "no brainer" as they say......a lot of people pay that for a service on an "ordinary" car.
  16. Better than breaking it though? Obviously the 2.9 is more desireable but the 2.8 seems plentyful at the minute and at £250.......?
  17. Snap! 28.9 running on the hard stuff though, and I don't take it easy!:thumbleft:
  18. Full secondhand engine for around £300 on ebay, choice of several 2.8 golf vr6. Weekend job with a mate to help even if you have very little mechanical knowledge. Don't give up easily!:thumbleft:
  19. Haha! looks like I'm loosing this 3 to 1 and Kip's not saying! Ok It's not to my taste........reminds me of the decor in a high class brothel I once found myself in on Parramatta road in Sydney:scratch: Scroll down on here for a look at the interior. (Corrado that is.......not the brothel ;) ) http://www.squidoo.com/vw-corrado
  20. The campaign might be rare but it's not to most peoples taste! There is I think, someone on here with one or certainly the interior of one. I saw one forsale a couple of years ago, you need to wear shades just to sit in it!
