1. Cheers, yep I like to have my own car with me whenever possible, and as you say the drive home is better than the plane trip! The cars on 17s and 40 tyres, not sure how much this affects the gearing but it cruised easy at this speed, never once felt the need to reach for another gear. Can't remember the mph to rpm figure on my previous Corrados as I sold my previous one (of 3) back in 2003. Anyone on here got my old VR6? It was classic green/black leather N**CKY. I noticed its still taxed :)
2. I'm in Nice, my sister has a couple of places here.......30c and sunny here today, but drove through hours of rain between Reims and marseille.
3. Well after a quick blast down the motorways and autoroutes I'm drinking beer on the balcony in the South of France. The Vr6 behaved fine on the thousand mile trip, sat on 3500 rpm, 85-90 mph all the way, not bad for a car I've only owned for a little over 3 weeks! MFA shows an average mpg of 32:thumbleft: Pics to follow over the next few days :)
4. Hehe "save a place" I said! Nice afternoon, some great cars, not too many Corrados though!...........We were number three! Still any excuse to take the "rado" for a drive........Speaking of drive, it's heading for the south of France tomorrow. A thousand mile blast down the Autoroute du Soleil (motorway of the sun)! Will post some pics of the car against the back drop of the med (god willing!) For anyone who is interested. :)
5. Just about to set off save a place for us!......see you in half an hour :)
6. Sounds like he might have buggered the charger, not really anything he can do like I said, If you buy a car no warranty given or implied. As for clocking you have to have concrete evidense before you accuse someone, even then did the ad state the millage was 100% genuine. With a multiple owner vehicle you can never really be sure on this. A bad situation all round, only thing he can do is sort it and chalk it......to experience.
7. Thanks Judith and Kip for the number, Insurance will be happy with that :)
8. My G60 Corrado blew the charger, went with a bang and then a clatter, major loss of power but limped home. Not really much he can do to you as he bought as is no warranty with a private sale
9. Thanks for that, strange that on the club site the contact us page just takes you round in circles.
10. Yes I did know that she is the treasurer, I really need the membership secretary if anyone knows who this is? I did message a couple of times on the club forum, but it must have a problem as my last two messages state unread. If all else fails I will pm her, thanks.
11. Being fairly new here I'm not sure who to contact, my problem is that I joined the CCGB a few weeks ago and told my insurance company that I was a member, thus obtaining a discount. They have given me until thursday to supply my membership number, I don't have this yet and am not sure who to speak to. Any help would be wonderful. Thanks in advance, Michael.
12. That's a pain...I don't like the harsh ride of 40s or the look if I'm honest but have been offered a good deal on some 17inch rims :(
13. Sorry to butt in on this thread but does anyone know if 205 45 17s on a 7.5j will be ok on my Corrado VR6? :)
14. No worries, full engine is a bit much in a Lupo gti boot! But if you are real stuck and can manage with just the head you know where I am. :)
15. Hi, I've been reading this thread and can imagine how you must feel, the only thing to do is press on and get the car sorted, then put this s**t behind you! The reason I comment is that I live in Malvern, just up from Bristol. On Sunday I'm going to Nottingham, just down from Sheffield.......If it's just the head you need and someone wants to drop it off to me it can go in my car, and you could collect from Nottingham? Not Ideal as it's not till sunday but the main part of the journey. If you get stuck and this offer is any good give me a shout, and at least you know the head will be handled carefully without the need to crate it.
16. Gotta love that supercharger whine! My mk1 'rocco never fails to turn heads as I crawl through busy streets....although it's more small tiger being mangled! ;)
17. My Ford Boss V8
18. I've driven one or two of them and also the saloon version (Commodore), but where I drive them they are badged as Holdens.....owned the Ford equivalent also, Falcon GT 290 Boss 5.4 litre V8, sequential shift and massive horsepower..........missed the Corrado though!!!!!!
19. We thought it was quite good, but then never having been before we had nothing to compare to.......some very nice cars there.
20. The mechanic who used to look after my Corrado some years ago had this framed and hanging on his wall, I found it on the net a little while ago. I always thought the title described the car and it's owners well.
21. Had a good day at BVF today, the Scirocco attracted a lot of attention. Was good of the Corrado club to invite us to display the Mk1 on their stand, although we did feel the odd ones out, a little. :) Being recently back from living in Australia, it's nice to meet up with and chat to people who have a common interest......and we do love the Corrado...honest!!! There were some very nice examples there, we know what ours has to live up to now! I think we will go again tomorrow, perhaps next year the two clubs could do something together?
