Does anyone here own a supercar? No a Corrado doesn't count!
Toohottotrot replied to Abdul's topic in General Car Chat
I always liked Michael Cain's story about going to buy a Rolls Royce after making his first film. He went into a London dealer and thought he could just buy one and leave with it. He was in jeans and was an unknown actor. The pompous salesman told him where to go. A week later he had managed to buy the convertible demonstrator from another dealership. He drove past the London dealers showroom, top down, stood up giving the 2 finger salute! -
Couldn't agree more! :)

Pretty good, servicing is expensive tho. It's garaged most of the time as I'm very busy since we got back to the UK. We looked at various places for something around the 50k mark a little over a year ago. Most dealers were pig ignorant! Went into Audi to look at an R8......got totally ignored! Grey Paul Ferrari were very friendly, very professional and very helpful! Even invited us to watch the F1 grand prix last year with them! :) -
Anyway to start the starter motor with 12v supply cable missing?
Toohottotrot replied to bmcc's topic in Engine Bay
Give it a try, it's very difficult to bugger up starter motors they are very tough. When I was a kid I worked at an auto electricians at weekends, we use to jump start 6 volt beetles with a 12 volt battery all the time. But if you do break it, I didn't tell you to! Lol -
Yep Clarkson prefered the rocco to the Golf GTI, have to say I'm with him on that. I have an offer for the Rocco so it might be going :(

I have video of the Mk1. A few people on here have seen the car at various meets last year. It was a ground up restoration on an 81 GLS with documented 67k miles from new. I bought it from the person that built the car. A Mclaren engineer named Neil. The car was fitted with a G60 supercharged Audi 20 valve four cylinder, minus the turbo. Many other mods too. Very light and very quick! :) I like the shape, to me it looks like a mk 0 Corrado! True there are very few mk1 Sciroccos left......and this is without doubt the finest there is. :)

Vids of my Mk1 Rocco or in general? :)
-
No they don't ask for or give NCB. My Corrado was fine with mods when I changed address recently there was no charge, and having just sold the Corrado I swaped the 6 month remaining on to my MX5 with only a £15 fee. My Rocco is 31 years old modded to the hilt and insured with Flux Direct. Different company to Adrian Flux as I was informed when I rang the wrong number!

Amazes me how few people on here have looked at this vid that I uploaded last autumn, lots was said on here at the time. Looking at my youtube stats, the vast majority of people that viewed were in Spain followed by the USA.

Could be the milage, although my Rocco is on a 5000 a year policy. Try Peter James on 021 506 6040. They have been the best so far, sensible people to talk to. They like the Corrado club, tell them a member reccomended them.

The shattered clutch plate on the Noble took me back, my first G60 was 2 years old when this happened! Less than 40k on the clock. I was shifting up to 4th after a fast getaway and "bang"! I managed to coast home in 4th straight up my driveway.

Tonights episode was ok.....it was about cars for a change!

The best one I saw was on a friends Turbo quattro. The cigar lighter was a push button starter......and very easy to do.

Looks very nice! A Storm without the badges, looks like they ticked every box on the options list! -
I've always found temporary to be expensive, 4 weeks costs as much as insuring for a year on a normal policy. Check into taking a years insurance on monthly payments then cancel later. Check the small print though as some charge if you cancel.

Yep that Prelude is bland at best, bordering on quite ugly, and I have heard Clarkson say the Probe was crap and sounded like something the doctor inserted into your anus!

gurby, pm them, I'm sure they will send you just the cloth from the seat. :thumbleft:

Quick insurance question - any experts on here
Toohottotrot replied to trickyrobo's topic in Insurance
Your boss is covered for business but you are not! His policy is for business your fully comp is not! Yes it is correct that if your policy states driving other cars "not belonging to you" then you are covered third party only......but that vehicle must have insurance! So you can't own say 3 cars and only insure one, for one thing you would not be able to tax the others, as they have no certificate. -
Totally agree Andy, they are not the drivers they think they are. Also why is it us mere mortals find it impossible to drive and use a mobile phone but a police driver can speak on his radio? I wish I was Superman too!

All that matters is you like it! ;)
