  1. Hmm, I think the fact that people are struggling to sell even exellent one's for low money speaks volumes for the real situation. That said I still miss mine big time and still post on here and will no doubt buy back in, lol! You have just got to learn to enjoy what you have re ownership and fun etc and forget about the money making potential.
  2. What you all seem to forget is that this is a car forum where most people generally have a healthy interest in all things Cars. Believe me there are as many fella's exactly the same as the girls you mention above. A good few of my mates are really clever lads in fantastic jobs but would not know how to check their oil for example because they don't have to. I don't think this is a 'gender' specific' issue. Oops, sorry to be so serious for a mo, doh!
  3. Coullstar, what tweeks would you recommend, I know from previous threads you know your stuff. Thanks in anticipation. Pete ps sorry i know this is a Corrado forum
  4. Had exactly this situation myself. Had a Corrado 2.0 16v which loved big time but i sold it and bought a Mk5 Golf GTI 4 door with low miles in mint condition with all the wanted extras for 7.5k. I still miss the Corrado but i must admit when I see some of the problems you chaps are having on here that I went through with mine (ABS Pump, Immobiliser, MAF, K Jet etc, etc) I think i made the right decision re practicality and still good fun. That said I spent three hours last night replacing the CL Accuator pump on the rear door in a freezing cold garage on the GTI. Whenever i see a decent Corrado for sale on here or elsewhere for silly cheap money im always 'tempted' until another bill comes through the door. Go with your gut feeling but you won't regret buying a MK 5 gti but go for the manual. Cheers, Pete
  5. My mate Ste did a worse one than that. After a long day out with a Golf Society drinking post game on the coach home my mate gives his keys to a friend Ray to take his car home for him to avoid any temptation to drive home from the pub, suffice to say the night was a messy one. Next day he returns to the pub to pick his car up and its not there. Police etc turn up to investigate the next day and about thirty of us all sit round in the local pub watching the security videos. Next thing his good friend Ray pops up on the video gets in the car with the keys and drives off. The look on Ste's and the Coppers face when they both realize at the same what has happened. Quality!
  6. Glad its sorted Scott, must admit I got quite involved reading that. I thought i'd replaced the dizzy just before the car was sold a couple of years back but i'm not too sure. The immobiliser was fitted by the original owner i think so is quite old. Hope its all sorted now.
  7. Hello Scott, I was wondering when you would pop up on here with my old car, must admit i'm really missing the car still. Hope all is going well with it. I still come on this forum now and again despite not having a car at the mo as we left the last one in Marrakech last year and jumped an Easyjet flight back after a big road trip. You are in the right place for any Corrado based advice as this forum is spot on. I'll look out for any progress or updates you make with the car, keep posting. Might buy it back off you one day. Cheers, Pete.
  8. As someone said the grass is always greener. All I know is that my Wife is very easy going indeed but if I sugested your proposal to her I think although she would not say as much out loud she would be thinking I need to 'grow a pair' and get on with things. It's harsh but true but you are probably like me in a position were its just expected of you now by family and friends. It's good though that you can sense an issue maybe looming so you can maybe make some small changes to help out. Good luck mate, your post sort of struck a cord, lol!
  9. Storm Guy has summed up what my mate said in a nutshell, basically everyone thinks you can do this driving third party on your own policy but it's only for emergency use hence daily trips by us are not on.
  10. We have a situation in work were as our Operations manager has a car he owns for which he has Fully Comp Insurance including social/domestic and bussiness use and has a paid up 2k a year car park space as a company perk. The idea being that us as his staff can drive the car for local bussiness use dropping off bits and bobs and pick ups etc. Currently we drive this car on our own policies as we are all fully comp ourselves but what exactly our we covered for in a crash. My policy says I can drive other peoples car with their permission 3rd party but is this correct? Basically I'm asking if I crash his car and its my fault I take it all that is covered is the person who I crash into's car on my insurance. My managers car if wrote off would not be covered in anyway? A friend said surely this can't be right, what if your boss owned a Bentley you surely can't drive round in that 3rd party on your insurance? I thought his point made sense. Btw my manager is a decent bloke and is only doing this to cut costs etc as we were spending a fortune on local cabs etc. Can anyone clear this up and sorry it was a bit long winded
  11. This is a classic!!! Lots of us go mountain biking and we thought the best option was a roof mounted 'Thule' (or something like that) carrier which my mate bought for about £300 on ebay. Of we go to the Marin trail in Betsy Coed. We pull into the biggest pub in the centre of the village for a dinner meet up with the other Lads and my mate who is driving a brand new Audi A6 Estate top of the range jobby pulls into the car park and parks the car. I berated him saying we could get much nearer to the entrance of the pub so he pulls out fast in a nark, spins round and goes under a low tunnel/bridge wiping four bikes off the rack inc a £2K Orange one, pulling the roof bars out of the Audi roof, destroying his new rack and leaving damage on the brigde roof and taking off the low bridge sign 'to boot'. Then laughter from over 30 people sitting outside the pub and all the staff and other customers inside. Needless to say my mate was not a happy bunny but tbh he handled it well. I think the total damage came to about 5K but he has never told me the full costings of my stupidity, DOH!
  12. I'll have one Cheers, please PM me the payment details, ta!
  13. Troops, I'm heading over to visit the Nurbergring World Cup Final weekend with my Brother and two friends (Hopefully England v Germany) Fri 9/7 to Tues 13/7. We will do a couple of mornings or afternoons on the ring and spend the rest of the time generally getting drunk and having a laugh. There are four fella's going taking my Corrado and my Brothers Mk1 Golf. We are camping at the Ring site. I know many on here have made this trip but are there any 'must do's/see's in the surrounding area you would recommend. All input would be welcome, thanks in advance, Cheers!
