Anyone got one for sale? Thanks Dougie
-
Can anyone tell me if it is possible to get Bilstein B4 shocks that are not just inserts but actually have the strut also? Reason I ask, is I have B4 on the rear and would like to have the same all round, but the struts are very scabby on the front. I don't want to put the car of the road for any length of time while I do the derusting and painting of the strut. Anyone managed to get them supplied like this? If so where from? Many thanks Dougie

Anyone one on here from or know loads about Sheffield?

Send up the Paisley pidgeons Wullie, they will frighten off any potential invaders. -
That was my thought Sean. It has always been like this since I got the car so pretty sure its historic. I really need to figure out a way of knowing what shape/bend the window frame should have in relation to the rest of the door. Have been trying to rack my brains on a way of measuring with a plum line the passenger door, then comparing the measurement on the drivers (affected) door. I just dont want to go to the bother of this if its just the seal that has blown, and is holding the door out. The joys...

Looking for some advice please, I will eventually get round to posting pictures of it, but hopefully my description will be enough. The door seal (large rubber seal which runs along the top of the door frame and seals against the ruber seal on the body) is stopping the door from closing properly. It appears to be fouling the body at the A post, just above the wing mirror. The door appears to be closing fully on the stricker pin and is sitting flush with the rear quarter panel, it just the top of the door that is being held out. I have looked and I cannot see anything untoward with the seal itself, no rips tears etc. The lines on the door match with the body so I am ruling out the door not being aligned properly. The only thing I can think of is the window frame section of the door has been pulled outward at some point? Anyone got any suggestions before I get a block of woodin between the door and sill and start bending it inward? Cheers Dougie

Lol Sean, I have been rushing out to the garage to get stuff for the missus in the hope that she wont cotton on. However I think she has noticed a pair of wings, two doors and a tailgate lurking! She has however not found the box of new parts still to be put on the car! What are we (men) like! Dougie

Changed steering wheel and horn stays on
corrado wannabe replied to Reverend Frog's topic in Interior
You are now finding out that the 16V does in fact have a superior wheel! I know you are saying it is not a connection issue, have you checked that the sapde terminal is not fouling the brass plate? I had this issue when straightening the wheel after suspension work. Dougie -
Thats me being optimistic! Just picked a month at random! No time and the wee thing just keeps running and running without any problems. But I really do need to get the finger out, the garage is starting to look like a parts emporioum for the Corrado. (behind the trampolines and bikes and prams......)

Good man Andy, Hopefully I will remember this info in july when I finally get round to gtting it done! I have a torque wrench so thats good to know. I really need to get my finger out! Dougie

Quick question Andy, Do you use any sealant when putting on the gasket? The reason I ask is I have been watching far too much Wheeler Dealers, and it seems to be a favourite of Ed China when putting any gaskets or seals on. Its not something I thought you had to do? Dougie

Glad we could be of help ;-) There is a guide for it on here somewhere that I need to dig out, as I have a shiny VW one waiting in my "new parts still to put on" bin. This seems to be getting fuller as the jobs havent been getting done.

Stuart afraid I dont have the info to hand (at work) but if its any comfort, TMS supplied me with the correct size of belt for my 2.0 9A. Not a guarantee you will get the correct one, but I didnt have to tell them the part number ro belt size/diameter. Hope this helps, Dougie

It just shows how fragile the whole thing can be. I went through something very similar many years ago when I worked with Motorola. Semiconductor industry was flying high and wages were reflecting this. As hard as it sounds, many people working in the industry were relying on the good times lasting forever and living their lifestyle accordingly. Rather than making hay while the sun shone, they were basing mortgages and lifestyle on salary, plus overtime. Dangerous cocktail. As you say Coullstar, the headline figure is the numbers directly employed by the industry, however the huge amount of companies servicing the industry that rely on the business is the real killer. You just have to look at places like East Kilbride when Motorola went, Bathgate when NEC, Motorola went, many people losing well paid full time jobs and going into part time, zero hour contracts. Not good. That said, if your commodity is open to market forces, as hard as it is, I would rather the money my family spends per month on fuel is halved, rather than keep other people in work. The main political issue that seems to be around at the moment, is the distribution of wealth throughout the entire country. This appears to be focused on London, however Aberdeen and Edinburgh (in a Scottish context) appear to be doing the same, and I for one, would not want to see that continue to propped up by Gvt intervention, at my cost and the cost to the rest of the country. Dougie Just my tuppence worth, and I have nothing but sympathy for people under threat of losing a job, as I have been through it myself

corrado wannabe replied to corrado wannabe's topic in Ebay and Misc
See Diarmaid, they are worth nothing, however I am happy to take them off your hands for the nominal fee of say 50 pounds? Deal? Lol Dougie -
Check these bad boys out! http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/BBS-RM-4x100-polished-6-5Jx15-rs-vw-mk1-golf-bmw-e30-sirocco-oz-corrado-mk2-/301440071920?pt=UK_CarParts_Acc_Wheels_tyres_Trims_Car_Rims_ET&hash=item462f3a78f0 No association with them, just thought they looked immense.

I am in the same position as kdub, I flirt between a new car and the Corrado. It just feels a bit more of an event driving the C, if anything it shows that we can live without the add ons that a modern car carries. That said, I dont know if I would out of choice bin a new car for the Corrado. I know it would be more than capable of carrying out the duties, but the comfort levels and general build quality, just make it feel better put together and safer than the C. (I have a young daughter as well, so it does become a consideration) I guess it would depend upon what your general driving needs are (long journeys etc) Dougie

http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Volkswagen-Corrado-VR6-Auto-/141478846455?pt=Automobiles_UK&hash=item20f0cbdff7 Absolutely no association with this car, other than I bumped into the old guy (not literaly) at a local motor factors where I work. Seemed like an honest guy and car. Interestingly he had it in the garage for them to look at the sunroof and it turned out to be the motor, so I gave him a spare I had! Seems like it is still not been fitted! If any of you buy it, drop by Stirling and I will make you a cup of tea and cake, but give me my sunroof motor back please!! LOL Dougie

Now you will need to get your lipstick and mirror out instead! Dougie

Jim, Its very hard to give advice on a forum, not knowing financial situation, reasons required for a different vehicle (reliability aside) milages travelled etc. I would say that reliabilty is a bit pot luck as well. For the last ten years or so, I have been driving reasonably new Audi's all had low miles, varying between petrol and diesel, all apart from the current car (2012) have had issues. The diesel has been the most frightening in terms of reliability and the costs would have been ridiculous had the car not been covered under Audi warranty. I can see the benefit of the lease system, and apart from the well documented handing it back potential problems, it is a fixed fee per month, no hassle option. Depending on how much you have for a second hand car being bought outright, you could be buying another expensive set of grief. I can sympathise with you, the C is an old car now, it does require a lot of fettling to keep on the road, and although I have the other car I do like to use the C at least twice a week. I do always have that niggling feeling that it might not get me to where I want to go, but I really wouldnt want that as my only mode of transport. Dont be shy with dealers, they are salesmen, they need to sell cars, you need to drive it before you can make your mind up about a purchase. Just tell them straight, your thinking about one, but you've never driven one and at the end just say you didnt like it and walk away. You are right to put aside any badge snobbery, I think by the sounds of it, its going to be all about reliability. Hope it works out anyway, Dougie

Must resist the temptation to bite....Must resist the temptation to bite... Welcome along Katy and all the best with the new purchase, if you have the funds then go for the respray, I would keep it original as unless it is a proper engine bay, door shuts and inside of boot, I always think a colour change is a bit ropey. That said, you might need the initial funds to get the car properly sorted as with a Corrado if there isnt something wrong with it, wait a couple of weeks and there will be! But enjoy the car, they are great fun, even in 16V form

Oooh nice, We looked at the 4 series as we were chopping in the A5 coupe and my A4 Avant to go down to one car, then the little monster arrived and we needed 5 doors not 2! So a Sportback A5 it was for us! Lovely looking machine though, hope you enjoy it. Im sure you will find out if its the ultimate driving machine in the winter soon enough! Dougie

Jim, Another thought, as the car has been in your family, do you know if the injector and wiring harness recall has been carried out on the car? It should be carried out F.O.C at your local Audi dealer Dougie
