Clearout - Mainly G60/VR6 - Loads! List Updated 22nd July
P3rks replied to P3rks's topic in Parts for Sale
Only whats listed fella's. Sorry. -
Just went for a cheeky pizza at my local takeaway, parked up on the main road and went inside to order. I went outside to enjoy the summer night whilst waiting for my food when I see a group of Chinese students admiring the VR6 and all taking photos. Well chuffed. The students leave and then 2 mins later a BMW pulls infront of the VR, a middle aged chap gets out with two young-ish boys around 12 years old. He goes straight to the VR and has a right good mooch around it whilst explaining to his kids "it's the old Scirocco".. Wait for it...! He then says "its a Corrado.. The chunkier, cooler version of the Scirocco." he had a right good poke around whilst rabbiting on to his kids about the Corrado explaining its had a right good paint job and it must be really well looked after. The chap then goes inside to the takeaway with his kids. About 5-10 mins later I go back in and wait for my food. Just as I'm leaving I overhear the chap tell his kids out of no where: "I can't get over the condition of that Corrado" and he wanders over to the window for another look. Well chuffed.. Makes all the effort cleaning it worth it! :)

NEW Group Buy - VR6 Polyurethane engine mounts (PAYMENTS PLEASE)
P3rks replied to 24V Renshaw's topic in Forum Group-Buys
Just out of curiosity why the difference in shore for the lower front on this batch? -
What's your location? What car and engine did they come from?

Uprated exhaust mounts to stop flex? Or shorter ones to raise it? A good trick I used on my old Polo's was to put a hose clip around the outside of the existing rubber exhaust mounts. This way you still have some small flex but will avoid any stretch or bouncing around.

That's a PCV valve. It's the crankcase breather so recirculates oil vapour back into the inlet for environmental reasons. Being a valve though it only recirculates under heavy load. They are known for failing, leaking, splitting and causing blue smoke out of exhausts and running issues. Early cars don't have one, just a straight pipe, but I've never liked the thought of that. You can get a replacement from VW but it comes as part of all the pipe work (thanks VW) so it's big bucks. Most people replace with a Ford Galaxy VR6 part as Ford sell it separately to all the pipes. It's not cheap at just under £50 last time I checked - but much much cheaper than VW. It's an identical part though. I bought one from Ford last month but before i fitted it i decided on an oil catch tank instead so it's just been sat in my lock up ever since. Drop me a PM if you want to save a few pennies on one. The car is looking very well though, you've made some great progress on this. Love where it's heading :)

As above. Search for "Corrado convex mirror" and it should be the first one. Picture is of a mirror saying left or right. You'll obviously need to order 2 (one of each side). Quality isn't up there with genuine, but it's not bad. Being convex you see much more in them, especially on the drivers side.
-
Pull the mirror glass from the four corners one at a time. Carefully and they should pop out from the wing mirror. once all four corners have popped out there will be two wires on spade connectors for the heated elements which you can undo. Then you'll need to remove the glass from the backing plate which is stuck together with sticky pads. I just placed them in boiling water for 5 minutes and then carefully separated the two.

As the title. I'm after a late heated seat switch as I've just melted mine! Thanks.

The lists been updated :) -
I would imagine the 10w50 would be better for the higher mileage VR's being a thicker oil when up to temp. Less leaks, should quieter down any rattles etc. Will also be good for those who regularly see higher oil temps as it'll be thicker - such as track days etc.

Good shout! Is it still there? I used to frequently vist there over ten years ago!

As above, synta silver.

Has anyone noticed how they get treated by other road users when driving thier car(s)? In my Corrado generally I've found most people give it a wide berth (maybe it's because a lot of people don't know what it as, it looks fast so they just keep thier distance and give me the right of way?). Even other people in performance cars give it some respect and always give me a nod. But then I always get the odd ****head in a clapped out or poverty spec Astra or the like hooning it right up to my rear bumper or overtaking in a manner aiming to provoke (you know the type: stuck to your rear bumper, throws the car into the overtaking manoeuvre sticking as close as possible beside you then cutting you up to get in front). But it's never the performance cars, always the standard crappy ones with two lads in, with everything to prove. Other than that the Corrado makes me feel respected on the road. But then sometimes I borrow my mums car.. A new Fiat 500 in white with the gay stickers up the side. When I drive this I never get right of way and nearly every single other road user tries to buly me off the road. People cutting you up at junctions and round a bouts. Never let me in a filter lanes. I've been victim to road rage 3 times in this car. Twice by van drivers once by a lorry. Fiat 500's are obviously in the lower spectrum of the pecking order. How do you guys and girls get treated in your Corrado and the other cars you drive? Have you noticed a difference? Discuss...

My MFA has stopped showing the ambient air temperature. A couple of days ago I was playing about with the fuse box to fit some heated seats. I believe I've probably snagged or pulled a wire behind there. Just to make sure I have tried a known working 2nd sensor to no avail. Can anyone confirm the wires I should be looking for and their fuse box location? I don't have access to any wiring diagrams. Any help would be awesome as I hate rummaging around the fuse box. :(

Right, Been to Maplin's and bought one of these (in Green): http://www.maplin.co.uk/coloured-subminiature-bulbs-25545?action=noagentcheck The bulb is a little smaller than the original but other than that it's a great fit. The only issue is that it once fitted and tested its the wrong colour of green, more light/yellow green than the dark green the rest of the switches illuminate. Any thoughts where I can get another bulb from?

When I bought my car the amp was earthed on the rear parcel shelf attaching thread. Literally on the rear of the car next to the rear lights. Never had an issue with this. I now earth it on a correct earth point located behind the rear door cards. Didn't notice a difference but I'm happier with it here.

Thanks for the fast response. Just stripped the seats and that was my problem. The wire had broke in the exact same spot too! Thanks :)

I've just fitted some heated leathers to my Corrado. They are all fitted with a genuine loom and were tested as working this morning, albeit only for about 15 minutes. I've come to the car this afternoon and tried the heated seats again (drivers seat). I had to go to the boot for something so I got off the seat and then the heated seat relays started buzzing. I found out that if I sat back down again the buzzing stopped. I didn't think much of it and put it down to a warning function so the heater wasn't left on or something. Anywho, I went on my journey. A few hours later I've gone back to my car and once again tested the drivers heated seat. Once again it started buzzing, only this time when I was sat on the seat, if I stood up the buzzing stopped.. What's going on!?

Can anyone confirm the bulb type for the heated seat switch for a late car please? Ive searched the net but failed to find the specific bulb type needed. I'm after the original bulb type (or nearest equivalent) not the fancy LED upgrade, old-skool for me  Thanks.
