how much would you like for the late heater controls (full) if in good order , and drivers footrest please ?
-
The bushes are attatched to the mechanism in two places , and provide a fitting for both the lock/unlock rod , and the boot latch rod ... Either the lock hook , or , there's a springloaded latch that the locking mechanism knocks out of the way of the push button when you unlock via central locking , this could have rusted and siezed ...either way it's a pretty easy job , did mine the other week following some good advice on here. After freeing up the hook (was pretty damn tight !) with some penetrating oil I greased it with some general purpose grease to prevent it sticking in future. They leave the factory greased and should last for a damn good while I reckon , but in my case , water was getting in past the spoiler flange ...might be worth a check while you have the cover off...
-
Had a look at mine today , sorted the lock and had a proper look at the spoiler flange . Somehow one of the screws , the right hand one on the drivers side , had come loose and the flange had lifted slightly too . Tightened it and going to see how it goes . They do look a fair but fiddly , maybe you would be able to replace the bolt on the faulty side , with a longer one , and use a suitable sized repair washer on the broken side ? Might cure it for good , or until you source a part and get time / better weather pal ?
-
Aye I reckon its seized it fairly good and proper , cant move it by hand at all (still on the car yet) cant see any on the hook or assembly itself but maybe where the faces rub theres a bit o rust where the water has been at it . Could do with a good clean out and spruce up inside there , theres a fair bit of moisture collecting...which I don't like at all !! How did you solve the water getting in ? Are there replaceable seals on the ram or will an o ring or even a fine bead of silicon on the inner of the boot where the ram slides , silicon would flex with the ram movement ?
-
Thanks for the help and fast replies , I've had a look and its looking like the metal hook has siezed . The rod moves fine when disconnect , the loud clunk I could hear before it failed was probably the hook snapping into place under pressure ..struggling then . Going to take it off tomorrow and apply.some lube and brute force :) Solved a mysterious water ingress in the process...the rain is getting into the boot past the flange for the spoiler ram. Maybe an o ring behind the flange will cure it . Thanks again guys.

Quite possibly , gonna have a good look in the daylight tomorrow on my dinner maybe pull the vaccuum pipe and see if theres any pressure there ?. Just looking in the Bentley manual now and can't find fook all on central locking ! ha When I got the car on the road it didn't work , then just started working (August '12) . I put that down to being stored for a while and thought nothing of it till now .
-
Aye that's the vertical position I think , mines always been in the horizontal position . Wish i'd of took the cover off and had a look at what was clunking when it did :/

Hi , i've had a good search on here and can't find a remedy to my particular problem (or symptoms) The central locking on the boot has packed in , it opens fine with the key , but not with the alarm fob . A little while ago there was a fairly loud click coming from the boot when locking/unlocking the car , which stopped (only happened a few times) I don't really use the boot THAT often so didn't notice that the central locking had stopped working . I've just had a quick look and the rods seem to be in the correct place....It started pi55ing down so iv'e given up for today ..... has anyone had a similar problem with this loud click ? Thinking maybe a fault with the vacuum but all other locks work fine off the fob , are there seperate fuses for boot , doors , fuel locking ? Thanks in advance...i'd be fooked without this forum :thumbleft:

VW CORRADO Official Factory Repair Manual
scott1980 replied to MORRISFERGI's topic in Parts for Sale
you can get these [mod edit] Mod edit: Let's not condone piracy please. -
well i've thought of blagging it saying it doesn't connect properly or summat , wouldn't wanna risk goosing it and end up wi no stereo and a big middle finger from Halfords .... Big sign on the window says "we wont be beaten on price" wonder if they do a price match on the ebay one ? probably pi55ing in the wind and it's my own fault for not looking into it !! haha
-
well .. yesterday ... fitted new stereo . Much pleased overall
-
Treated myself to a new stereo yesterday , the old one was in perfect working order but fancied an upgrade. I wanted something that could stream music from my iphone , and handle calls via bluetooth , so I plumped for a Sony MEX-BT3000 . It was on offer at Halfords for £79.99 , from £250 and was a bit of an impulse buy but I'm glad I bought it ! I can't get over how much better it sounds , deeper bass and crisper highs . I thought the standard speakers in the Rado were a bit poo , but actually , they sound o.k with a decent stereo ! Simple to use , looks good , calls are clear and connection is a doddle . Did my usual thing of looking on ebay , and ,for the price , and being able to just go and pick it up I was happy :) Until later on that evening I was just having a look at the range of Sony head units on ebay...The next model up ( or a couple of models up ) which had a few more features , was available for just £15 more :( . Extra features included variable display colour ( not essential I know but for matching the interior lights this would of been great) a front USB port and a search feature for streaming music . Mine streams fine but has no search function , just pause , next , previous , shuffle . Overall i'm very pleased ...but just goes to show , a little research can go a long way . Tempted to try and return the stereo but obviously ive fitted it now :/

The futures bright ... the futures BLUE ! ha . Yeah going to swap to blue sooner rather than later , bought a new stereo head unit yesterday Sony MEX-BT3000 ...which is BRIGHT blue illumination. A good bit of kit for £80 (was £250 when it came out ..on offer at halfords) and doesn't really match my clocks now...AT ALL :/ The blue does look better , contrast with the needles .. mine are a bit plain now :( ha Ill have a look on maplins site an find that strip :) Hofmeister- I may just have them off you in the new year , if you still got em ! Awesome used to sell them but don't anymore apparently . Had a quick poke around with the MFA and Mileometer when I did the light , is it just a case of removing the face or can you slide the filter out ?
-
After the bulb behind the mileometer display went , and a bit of a root round on here , decided to change the look of my dash a little. The bulb was £2.49 from halfords , and seeing as I had already drove there and wanted to do the job that day , I bought it ( I took the faulty bulb with me to make sure I got the reet one) The woman behind the counter asked if I wanted it fitting ..."errrr .. no thanks ill just put it where I got this one from" :bonk: Took the green diffuser out of the gauge cover and replaced it with a bit of a filter craftily cut from a disco light in my dads garage :rainbowafro: haha . Here's the end result , im going for blue ultimately , because then the needles will still shine orange but my dials will be blue (if you get me) I'm fairly pleased for half an hours work :) and will take about 10 minutes to put back to standard !
-
Yep ! and it pi55es me off ! haha , think theres a bit of a leak somewhere on mine tho , gonna start with door seals , then windscreen (odd drop creeps through when it lashes down)

Wet Drivers Side Carpets (Front and Rear footwells)
scott1980 replied to Jim Hughes's topic in Interior
Aha ! you've just solved a problem i've completely forgotten about , after a spell of being parked up du to a faulty immobiliser I found a fair amount of water in the drivers side rear footwell ... sucked it out with a mini karcher doofer and completely forgot about it...was going to investigate and now know exactly where to start :) -
Cheers , so long as it goes the right way come renewal time ( DOWN !!) Ill be happy :thumbleft: . I'll probably shop around and see what deal I can get in August . Hiya Pete , yeah been on here for a bit and must say it's absolutely fantastic for advice and ideas. No way ! that must of been some road trip !! Did you not get a camper then ? Everything is fine with the car , for now ;) . Needed a new metal coolant pipe and new brake lines , both were corroded , before I finally got it on the road "properly" ...my own fault really for keeping it cooped up in a garage for so long , kinda dragged my heels getting my licence back really...just plain laziness :( It's been back on the road since August and up to now , apart from the immobiliser and a blown bulb behind the mileometer it's been fine . Couple bits and bobs i'd like to do like sunroof seal , badge (polished stainless) , Inlet manifold ...but nothing so major as it needs my attention straight away. Good to hear from you , was gonna ask you if you ever had any issues with the immobiliser but I changed phones and lost your number ... Doh !! Oh and the heater controls !! Grrrrrrrr ;)
-
All sorted  gonna replace the immobiliser for an up to date one (Toad possibly) at some point ... yeah it was fitted in 1996 so it's had it's day I reckon . The siren gave up shortly after getting it on the road (August) anyway ! ha
-
So reluctantly , I paid £1772 , in full ( wanted over £3000 in installments) for my 1995 2.0 16v ...steep , but bear in mind I have no NCB ..its...er...the second time ive had my licence , so im essentially a new driver with clean licence. I'm 31 and a few mods , exhaust , carbon fibre bonnet , alloys , weitec suspension ...all declared . The dearest quote was over £10,000 !! :shocked!: Admiral provided me with the cheapest quote , closely followed by elephant ... Anyway , how much could I expect to have knocked off next years (if any) quote ??
-
Sound , might have a crack at that ! what sort of gains could I expect , and ball park figure for either mod ?
-
Well i've just had a call from the mechanic , hes bypassed the ignition stage of the immobiliser and had the car running  the immobiliser still arms / disarms and secures the car ( still immobilises via fuel pump ) . Still looking to replace with a more modern system in the near future :)
-
Thanks again , wish i could take credit but I pretty much bought it like this , got a couple little bits to do ... nice one destructiv dave , LWS seem to have a larger range too , like the doorcards and roofskin ! money no object , id get the roofskin AND spoiler ... carbon fibre looks s**t hot in the sun :) Gonna fit the inlet manifold at some point , as well as the s/s corrado badge ........the pattern on the badge is actually the reflection from the cieling tiles when I took the photo :smug: ....it's SHINY !! The manifold i got off ebay for 99p !! (+£9 postage) already powder coated , so itook some emery cloth and elbow grease to the badge , then painted with brake caliper paint...just needs some clear coat and a tidy before it goes on .
-
Thanks :) , it gets some looks I tell thee ! ...gets appreciation from young folk to old , the younger ones thinking "whats that ?!" and the older ones sometimes give a nod and a grin ! , don't think theres many cars ,even modern ones , that can match the corrado for that The bonnets were still available from performancetrim , but I think they've gone under (was thinking about a carbon spoiler which they did , but the website is no more) As far as I know the engine is completely standard , k+n and 2" ehxaust maybe giving a little help , but performance wise , I haven't a clue ha ! Theres a local tuning place so going to treat it to a once over there , but I believe theres very little bang for buck mods on a 9A engine ? As for the Nurburgring ... maybe one day :)

Carbon fibre Bonnet 17'' Enzo alloys with Toyo Proxes K+N panel filter Pretty much complete in my eyes , got a powder coated inlet manifold and s/s corrado badge to put on yet though (probably next spring) Can't decide whether to take the Nurburgring transfer off ...the previous owner , Pete , had actually taken it round there though
-
well , today's the day ... I've got a mobile mechanic coming to my car , at 7 P.M. ! (hes keen on !) lookng into bypassing the immobiliser in such a way as to leave me with remote central locking , if possible , if not , its coming out !! was looking at a toad alarm /immobiliser to replace it at some point .... are they any good ?
