  1. Right people thank you for taking the time to read this and potentially offer some advise. It is believed that my car has blown its head gasket. After investigation by a garage his "professional" opinion believes the head may be cracked. I haven't got the time nor money to start replacing these things and I need a car for commuting. I don't wish to break the car as I feel the car is to good and I haven't got it in me to do so. I have asked if the garage would be prepared to put 12 months mot on the car and then my plan would be to sell the car as spares or repairs due to the water loss, head issue. The car only has 109k miles and two owners which were a mother and son. I have files of history for the car another reason I don't wish to break the car. I was wondering what you guys thought of my predicament and also what the car would be worth to sell as it is with and without an MOT. As I said depressing topic for myself as I love the car and it is truly gutting that I am even writing this but any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks Nick :(
  2. I have just been reading through this list. Some of the cars are absolutely criminal that they were scrapped.
  3. Just to let you guys know the problem has been solved. Relay 79 behind the glove box she moved was clicking uncontrollably. The Clicking in turn gave power to the heater fans, wipers and a pump in the engine bay. The relay has now been replaced and all is good :) Thanks for all your help guys Nick
  4. Thanks for the advice :) I changed the ignition switch as a precautionary measure and still no luck. Does anyone know what relays to look at as I am exceedingly rubbish at automotive electrics :) Thanks Nick
  5. Hey guys I recently did this in the week. I thought I would share my success as everyone bends those tiny screw drivers to undo the retaining screw I came into a bit of luck. In a kitchen draw I had a plastic handled set of these from a cracker so so the handles bent,I could not believe it :-) I know it's not relevant but I really wanted to share this :-)
  6. Hi guys I changed my heater matrix on Saturday which thanks to guides from people on here was not as bad as first thought just a real time consuming job. Anyway on building the car back together when I now remove the key from the ignition the fans, wipers and a water pump continue to work. I went out Sunday disconnected the battery and it stopped however after driving the car today it has started doing this again. Has anyone got any ideas before I have to go and pull all the interior apart again. Many thanks Nick

  16. Recent update - I have closely had chance to have a look at the car and these are the symptoms; On start up splutters and struggles to find idle point, Car then runs and sounds like the idle will not settle, On pressing the accelerator the engine initially dips as if to die and then picks up - as this happens the car will mist (BLACK) smoke not blue. This will happen if the car is hot or cold appears to make no difference. I have tried disconnecting the maf set up and no air leaks appear present. The symptom has appeared a month after replacing the thermostat housing. Would one of the temp sensors in the housing be responsible for the rough start up and running? Many thanks, Nick.
  17. Hello everyone I am in need of a little advice; For the past week my car has been intermittently struggling to start. When it starts the car idles really low and begins hunting. I press the throttle down to try and increase the revs and I am met with some excess smoke coming out the back of the car a grey/blue colour and what feels like a misfire. Once the car then stops hunting it idles around 1100/1200rpm and does so for an extended time until it finally idles at 750ish rpm. I am after advice as to why this might be and if there is anything obvious to check before the weekend and it is plugged into my friends laptop. Any help is appreciated Many Thanks Nick
  18. As the title says guys does any one know if these are obsolete as I will be looking to buy a new set in the coming weeks :) Thanks Nick :)
