1. bought the car with some running issues. recently sorted and car has been running great. Today however i was bombing along in fourth and at about 4,400rpm the rev needle hesitated then started bouncing all over the shop, resulting in lots of backfiring, no throttle response and the car cut out. and leaving it for a few minutes, it stuck up again and i limped home, still with the needle bouncing everywhere. now ive had it on the drive and it starts, very intermittently. if it does start, it soon cuts out. when its not starting there's no spark from the coil. I've tested hall sender with a test lamp and it's fine and the coil's getting 12v on ignition. Its bizarre though because occasionally as i was trouble shooting the car would fire and idle perfect for a little bit. then cut out. any advice?
2. ive done a good few searches but still need a little confirmation. to set timing on my kr i; -disconnect the red lead by coil and block breather -start her up, let it warm to 80C and set idle to 1000rpm with idle screw -plug strobe on cylinder 1 and point at the flywheel under the green bung -adjust dizzy until the strobe flashes on the small marker after the larger diamond? big red diamond being before tdc and smaller diamond tdc? is this right or am i missing something?
3. I'm based in redditch mate. Spose they're a little heavy to post. How much would you be after? What kinda condition/colour/price? Flip pooles a long way away, nice place though. How much would you for all of these collected?
4. black late bonnet (i have an 1990 c, i assume you can fit the later style?) black early passenger door coilovers for 1.8 kr small tray? assembly that fits under the heater controls relay number 4 (one for rear wiper + washer) 90mm splitter leather interior corrado rear badge g60 front calipers, carriers. would be great with disks/pads but not essential. that'll do for now i think thanks.
5. thanks guys. sorted it today. turned out fuel relay was dead/melted. also changed, plugs, fuel filter, air filter and now it runs much MUCH better. i'm so pleased, tonight was my first proper go in it and i'm so pleased. only thing i've noticed is when im coasting in gear, it seems to surge/throb. any ideas?
6. yeah the one that goes into the over run cut off valve? that's all as it should be.
7. right got it running and idling as it should and it was fine for a the past day or so. bit the bullet and swapped my insurance over and everything! but then today whilst doing about 20 in second, there was a 'pop' (i may of just run over something) it just cut out. now it wont fire at all. cranks on the key but wont fire. resulting in this peculiar scene to get me home aha anyone got any ideas? fuel pump is priming, isv is vibrating but it's just not playing along.
8. i'm in. as long as it's running anyone from redditch area?
9. recently bought my first corrado and im working though it's various problems and one of them are the headlights. it's a little bizzare. side lights work, o/s dipped works, and when i put main beam on dipped and main come on on both sides. i understand the h4 dipped beam bulbs have 2 filaments, one for dipped and the other for main. so anyone know why only the one filament works? it looks like someones messed with the loom before as there's lots of crimped connectors etc. also as a side note how i get to the foglight bulbs? :) thanks guys
10. holy thread revival batman! found this thread very helpful and perhaps it could contribute to a kr idle troubleshooting guide?
11. i've got a huge amount of information like that.picked up the original workshop manual for vw techs from work today. there's lots of test plans to go through, i was just wondering if anyone had an similar issues and their fixes. :)
12. took the flow meter out today and it seems fine. any further suggestions? found that if the engine was running this the throttle held in position, the revs are all over the shop.
13. alright thanks alot for your help :) will you be attending the midlands meet?
14. are you referring to how the air flow meter sits? like where these arrows are pointing? does these meter have to correspond to the position of the throttle valve? sorry about the questions, i'm new to older volkswagens ha.
15. Hello! Picked up my first corrado yesterday and i experienced a few issues on the way home. car starts up fine, but left to idle it starts pinking then cuts out. once driving everythings okay, until you back off the throttle and coast in gear or let the car idle, it dies again. there's no throttle response and starts pinking back firing until it conks out. by the time i got home it was dark so any suggestions before i have a proper look tomorrow? the fuel tank was empty when i picked it up but i brimmed it for the journey home. previous owner said it's had a lift pump from a golf recently. any help would be appreciated :) regards steven
16. right, picked it up this evening and i'm very pleased. couple of things i've noticed that i've not had chance to look into yet but they seem prety common. stuff like, the sunroof only tilts? and the spoiler seems sticky. but the most pressing thing is that it wont idle right. if the revs drop too low it'll start to die, have no throttle response and start pinking and backfiring. any suggestions before i start looking at it tomorrow? i'm assuming something like an vacuum leak perhaps?
17. 1.8 valver as I figured it would he a good place to get into corrado ownership. Black with 120k on it. Picking it up this evening. Got various ideas for it so no doubt I'll start a project thread. Thanks for the help guys.
18. looks like i might be attending in a c after all ;)
19. wouldn't say that entirely fair on the dealers. i guess it depends on your own experience with them. i work for redditch volkswagen as a service tech and we occasionally get older stuff in (like corrados, mk1/mk2 golfs etc) and it's always given to a master tech. but obviously being a dealer it is expensive. like jim said if all you're paying for is the stamp, then just go to a reputable specialist. to anyone who knows what they're looking at it will hold the same 'stamp value'
20. happy birthday man. there's me thinking i'm getting old. just turned 19.
21. alright. i'm after my first corrado and i've settled on either a 2.0 16v or a G60. preferably i'd like a moonlight/midnight blue (unsure on correct name) as i think they look fantastic. i dont mind non runners/problems etc and i'd like it under the £1500 mark. dont mind traveling. so whatcha got?
22. it wont be around for much longer i can assure you! as long as i can find someone to buy it that is
