It's probably too late for you now, but I got my plugs from sparkplugs.co.uk. About £3.60 each, free p+p and here the next day. Would definitely use them again.

Saw one on display at the stealers parts counter. About £20 I recall. Not bad, cos I saw a mug pay above £40 on ebay earlier this year!!
-
It's so annoying. I live near 2 stealers, and i've started phoning both to get prices, as neither are consistent! (Apart from consistently expensive and unhelpful, that is!)
-
Andi, do the stealers have a random number generator when quoting prices?!! I have just had to replace the additional run on pump, because of a leak, and was quoted £192!!!!! I eventually got a 2nd hand one for £60, though. Easy enough to change, just a bit fiddly.

My mistake, thanks anyway guys. The display only appears with sensor connected. I would have expected the display to be there, but with no readout. I'll put this down to having a blonde moment or two

Thanks for the replies fellas. It's just that the MFA doesn't have a function to display outside air temp.
-
I found the air temp sensor disconnected yesterday on my VR6. (The grey sensor/blue connecter that sits behind the front bumper on the offside.) The car does't seem to run any different now it's connected than it did do before, and I was wondering what it does, and which system it affects, if any?

I've got a C in the fantastic vw red, that was looking sorry for itself. Got a full valet including G3 polish off a local valeter for £60. An absolute steal. I didn't think a 10 yr old car could look so good.

Thanks for the top gen guys, but i've 1 problem. I presume I need to remove the handbrake trim to get the gear trim out, but I can't see an obvious way of doing it. And I don't want to force anything 'cos I know replacements arn't cheap!!

A fella I know races quattros, and mentioned he might get a FSE Fuel Boost Valve for it, having heard good reoprts about it. Has anyone heard similar, and would it be suitable for a VR?
-
Thanks fellas. Gazza, Which lumps do you recommend lubing?

Hi there, just wondering if somebody may be able to help. I've a 93vr6 with 78k, and its nearly impossible to select 1st gear, without going to second beforehand. If the cars stood overnight, then it slips right in in the morning, so to speak!, but even after a short trip, the problems begin. Could it just be something as simple as a fluid change, and is this called up on any service??
-
Thanks for that VR6Storm, Got the right ngks in, and using super or optimax. The cars a 93 L, with no dizzy. Whats the cost of a lamda sensor, and what access like to cx it?
-
I seem to have some similar problems to andyg60. Mines an early 93 vr, and seems to hesitate on acceleration, until around 3500 rpm. Also the idle is steady, but a tad lumpy. certainly not v6 smooth anyway! The C's had a major service only 1k ago, and new plugs/leads. I was thinking it maybe a blocked/f*** injector, even though it's has a few pints of wynnes injector cleaner though it. Any help would be great edit-swearing-vr6storm

While we're on the subject of a heater matrix, are they as bad to replace as they look? I suspect mine to be leaking as i've a coolant loss, and the pax footwell keeps getting wet!! I've bypassed the matrix for the time being, but it needs sorting. Any ideas guys??
