Hi can anyone help!!!!! I have been having problem after problem with my G60 since its engine re-build. The problem is.... The car is very difficult to start in the mornings, and sounds like there is either no spark or petrol, it just keeps turning over. Then once it has started, as soon as it is reved, it sounds like it is pinking, then to make matters worse as i drive the car it dosent seam to want to pull away very easily, as is extreamly slugish. the car also makes the horrible pinking noise when driving. As to going up hills, forget it it just dosent want to know. The more I advance the timing the more it pinks, and the more I retard the timing the more slugish. the oil temp is 160!, and the light comes on and buzzer's. I was reading another post about supercharger boosts. Like it said, I get the MFA to pos 2 and held in and re-started the engine, then pressed once to setting 2. The reading I got was abound the '700' mark fluxuating up and down. have I done this right as the post i red said between 80 and 110. I connot find any reading that is just 2 or 3 low numbers! Need help quick!!!!!!!! The car has done 144,000, and has had all new bearing 6000 miles ago. Is it just knacked now and need to be sold or broken up, is there no hope no more!!!

Just another problem in my long long long list of problems!

It might be the oil pump. I had this problem early last year, my girlfriend was driving the car and the buzzer came on as soon as the oil pressure gauge dropped below 2 bar, the buzzer would sound. If she reved the car to 2000rpm+ it would stop. I too thought this was just the switch, but later that day, after deaf ears had had the radio on all day and too loud, I got in the car to the tune of 'nails in a tin can' sound, just micro seconds before the engine decided to seize!!!, very expensive on a G60!. There is a pressure regulator on the pump, My mate is a mechanic at VW, and he said that mine was F****d, Its a bit of messing arround changing the pump, but less than £50 from GSF. Trust me its better than spending £500+, do you have any ideas how tough it is to get hold of G60 pistons and Conrods!!!!!!! it took me more than 3 months. -
Any G60 garages in Sheffield / South Yorkshire?

No problem really, just had a engine rebuild and I want the timing checked by someone who knows something! I dont really want cowboys looking at it! -
Can any body tell me if they know of any garages that know about G60, especially the timing. Any ideas?, apart from VW dealers!!!

Can anyone tell me what the g60 block is the same as. I know the head is off a Golf GTI 8v, but what about the block? The 8v GTI block has no oil sprays at the base of the pistion bores, so what does, apart from a 16V GTI block! I have been told that the block is from a 1.8 diesel vw, but is it or not? can anyone help!!!

Can ANYONE help!!! Can anyone tell me how to remove the Heater Matrix from a 1991 G60. I am 99.9% sure that the matrix has had it from reading previous posts about cold blowing heaters! My G60 starts off warm but as soon as you put the heater onto setting 2, 3 or 4 cold air blows out. I would be very grateful if someone can tell me how the matrix is removed, hopefully without removing the dash! Cheers.
