    does anyone know if a mk2 gti golf is the same windscreen as a corrado?
  2. Can anyone tell me the difference between a G60 oil pump and a normal golf / corrado 1.8 16v pump. I need a brandnew one and cannot get hold of any as they are on back order at VW. Same with the big end bearings and piston rings, are they the same as a 16v 1.8 golf / corrado KR code. thanks
  3. Hi, I am getting ever closer to respraying the carrado. I am planning a bare metel respray and want to know whats best. UPOL Acid 8 etching primer or plain halfords Zinc primer before i put the 2K high build primer on with the compressor. Any Ideas???

  6. Whats the best way to totally strip the paintwork down to the bare matal? All ready tried with electric sander at 40 grit, and Industrial paint stripper. Any one have any other ideas?

  11. I have made one glow bright red once trying to get home on 3 cylinders on my old Astra GTE 16V, which made a lovely mess of the head. I think they also smell of rottern eggs!!
  12. it might just be the running in of the charger, I had my charger rebult by jabba, and was told not to rev too high or race the car. On the first day back I had a young kid in a nova SR, and was really pi**ing me off, so i just had to floor it, and got the same white smoke. I worried for a while, infact a week, until all was fine again.
  13. I would definetly try having the timing checked, for what it will cost before you start striping the bottom of the engine down.

  15. yeah i would check the little end bearing (on the bottom of the con-rod to crank shaft) and also if the "knock sensor" is ok, and not pinking. I have had this problem and changed everything but the sensor! Once replaced, car was fine.
  16. I am in the middle of a G60 / 16V conversion using a G60 block as recomended. I have been told to purchase Audi S2 pistons, which I now have recived. i am a little puzzled because i have fittle the pistons and they dont come to the of the piston bore. Is this right due to the compression? they stand about 7mm below the top of the bore. can anyone tell me if this is correct before I go any further, or should i just scrap the idea and buy a audi TT (225) engine, or some thing with some power?
  17. Talking of top speeds. I hit 150mph on the speedo in my G60 down hill to be fair, on the A30 somewhere between exeter and bodmin, as i went round the slight left hand corner i noticed the speed camera!! Im sure it flashed but never heard anything, thank F**k.
  18. i am considering a little project.. Can anybody help me and give me some pointers. I am looking at putting a 1.8i 16v engine into my Corrado. I would like to fit my supercharger on to the 16v unit but am unsure what needs to be changed. I exspect that I will need to put my original G60 pistons into the block, but what else. Do i need to put G60 Cams into the head or keep the original 16v cams. Does the g60 ECU need to be changed for a 16v one. What about the G60 pipes to the throttle housing, does this need to be modified, and will putting a supercharger on a 16v give the car more power. Also, What bottom end would be best? 2.0i 16V Corrado engine, or a 1.8i 16v? what about the stroke? I understand that the Corrado engine just has a longer stroke. Once this has been done, what does the engine need to be timed for a 16v or G60. Any tips will be very helpfull, I exspect this must have been done before.

  20. Timing marks fine, what about the supercharger boost pipes, or does the blue temperature sensor prevent the car from running correctly is it worn out, any other switches and sensors that need to be checked? ECU?
  21. Timing marks are fine, checked both pullys and cam pully, like i said i have move the dizzy and the engine either pinks or wont run top end. Its also a bugger to start again. There is no in between, Any more ideas..., gettign desperate now!! *mod edit - deleted double post for you - Henny *
  22. changed the pipe and the knock sensor was changed when the gngine was re-built. I have checked the cable and its fine, any more ideas, what about the supercharger boost. did my readings sound right?
  23. the pipe is 77cm long from throttle to ecu, and was fitted by VW dealers last year, and i have never touched it once in all that time!!
  24. I will go and take the hose off now and check, even thought it has just started t osnow here is sunny yorkshire!
  25. what about if the pipe from the throttle to the ecu was restricting the air flowing, ie, the hose was slightly blocked
