  1. I worked in a vw franchise for a while and i was always fighting with the parts department over vr6 rear silencers. There is a single piece rear box available. To fit this you cut the rear silencer from the middle just before the rear axle at the point where it is roundest. You will have to buy a sleeve to mount the new rear silencer. This is available from vw and is produced for this purpose. It is the same for mark 3 vr6's, polo,s and some audis. You will just have to get someone in the parts that has half an idea what they are doing! I hope this helps. :D Riki.
  2. Poor seal on the roof anntena? Rear light seals? Tailgate hatch grommets? Boot lock barrel seal? You would really need to get someone to hose it down while you lie inside with a torch and look for ingress.
  3. I would check the slide pins in the calipers to see if they are free. If you are not used to working on brakes get someone to check it for you. The heat of the calipers causes the paste to dry out and if the boots have been torn when someone has fitted pads carelessly water can get in causing the pins to seize. it will then brake unevenly. Could be you cause? Might be worth a look.
  4. Is the radiator fan running? There was a recall on a few c's due to them siezing up. Check to see if the blades turn freely. Try bridging out the thermo switch and see if it runs.

    Car Won't Start HELP

I would try and give the battery a good charge first of all. Over night on a good charger is best. If you are getting ingnition lights but no crank have a look at the ignition switch. They are a bit prone to being faulty. If you have no ignition lights it may be down to the alarm. Try removing the main fuses to the alarm, leave it for 5 mins then reinsert them. If your alarm doesnt disarm put in your valet code and try and start it. Another crude method is give the starter solenoid a hit with a blunt object! They sometimes stick too! I hope this gives you somewher to start. :D

    VR6 antifreeze leak!

They are a swine to do. I did a few of them when i worked for vw. Very tight indeed but if you take your time you will get it done. I am sure it is 5or 6 mm allen keys that hold the housing to the block. Make sure you have a good allen socket. If you round the bolt its a bloody nightmare. Good luck. :D
