The bolt is located between the stick and the cubby hole in the dash, It's usually gold coloured. The stick does need to be in the central position when in neutral but may be resting in that position anyway regardless of the tightness of the bolt.
Al,
Lift the gear surround and check the bolt on the left to right adjuster, it may have come loose. With the stick in neutral, position it centrally and tighten the bolt, adjust again if necessary.

There is already a small surcharge of £10 but maybe it's not enough.
Price is £60 posted and no you don't have to remove the exhaust but there is a small piece of the body under the gear surround that has to be removed, it is hidden though.
I think it was £25. I'm not 100% sure it's fully working as it came off a non running VR I was breaking. I'm happy to post it out for you to try if you want to go through the hassle of fitting it, only pay if you're satisfied it's sorted your problem.
Yes I can help but I'm on my hols till Friday. I may be able to post them out Friday afternoon for guaranteed next day delivery but it's not cheap even for a small package. Price posted for both sides will be £40. Let me know.
Sorry for the late reply.
I don't advise drilling the pin out, my advice is to pop the back off the pin housing and push the pin out from the back, it's detailed in my install guide if you have it handy. If not I can send it to you but need an email address.
