1. I think you may find the problem is you have only tightened it to *F tight. I think you need to get it to *HSTT

    *HSTT = Holy S*it That's Tight. :)

I suspect it may not feel like there is more power because of the linear power delivery, I was really apprehensive about mine producing the numbers but because my power and torque are so progressive it sometimes feels like its not as quick as it is. Was really waiting for the moment Vince pulled me aside and told me the car was fubar. In reality it runs better than I thought.

Is your boost gauge needle steady now or does it still flicker when getting near maximum boost? Might be a sign of slip still.....

  2. Absolutely GUTTED i missed this. Was so looking forward to meeting everyone and the whole day in general. As you may or may not of heard billies mk3 dropped its oil on the m40 (possible hole in bottom end) and we had to get her trailered back. Didnt feel right leaving him behind. Sorry i couldnt make it looks like it was a sick day. at least spending the entire of saturday waxing the bloody thing means it now has its winter coat on. Still so ****ed off i didnt make it.

    Peace :(:(:(:(:(:(:(

Yeah was a shame, Billy's set up looked nice from what i saw of it, minus the coating of oil :) Would have been good to have a proper poke around your corrado too. Just hope its something silly rather than the hole in the block and he will be back on the road soon.

  3. Hi everybody, can anybody share some info on the following. When I gotta car it came with a chip and pulley fitted but I don't know what's what with the chip. I've attached photos of the one in the Ecu currently and the one I have to hand

Can anybody tell me what chips I have? I have receipt from g-werks for chip and pulley but thought it would be an Sns chip coming from them?

    aqu5esa7.jpg. Chip in Ecu

    yganubyv.jpg chip I have extra

    Cheers!

  4. May have another coming along with a focus st with a few tweaks... He's asked if he's welcome.

Don't think anybody will mind, the more the merrier. Sure he can draw a vw badge on or something :-)

Will you be meeting up with me. EJ Taylor and his mate billy? You mentioned back in the thread you were heading from the south so meet up for convoy. I posted a map and all with times etc

  5. Hi Jim,

I'm probably not going to get there until about 10-10:30 as its a long drive. I plan to set off at 6:30am.

    Will that be OK?

Just realised that the clocks go back this weekend - should make the early Sunday morning start somewhat easier!

So if hof doesn't change his clock back, he can travel back through time and be at stealth for 9.30.......... :)

  6. was considering attending this with my valver but never done anything like this would it be worth it does it set up your car or just do bhp figures as its a fair way to come thanks ross

Yeah it's worth you coming along. Doesn't set your car up but you will get two runs on the dyno and a printed copy of your power/torque figures. Doesn't matter if your running huge power or not, I got a g60 and doubt ill be making much more than stock power, I'm going just to meet other rado owners and nosey at other folks cars.

  7. AEB and AGU are very similar engines but the AEB was mounted inline and the AGU is transverse. You would probably be better with the AGU as it will already have the inlet manifold you want. Although the passats and A4s are cheap to buy :)

280s may be a little small for 250bhp, you could look at 288/315 on a 5 stud conversion or maybe 288/315 on a 4 stud by following this thread

    http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?t=45434

dont suppose you know if the pistons and conrods for the agu and aeb are the same? will check the link out to the brakes

  8. Hi Ben,

Will watch this with interest just to see how its done but do you realise the Leon didn't come with an AEB, you want a Passat or Audi A4 for that engine.

The AEB has the large port head so if you want a Golf/Leon with one of those you will need to get an AGU (But I think the 180bhp Leons all came with the AUM small port engine)

Thanks for the info, i was told that the engines in the 99 leon cupra were ayp or aeb. not sure what the difference is to be honest. Glad thats sorted though, Like i said its still a bit of a fact finding mission at the min as i obviously want to reduce the amount of faffing about and do it right once. I did look into using an AGU head but, not that im trying to cut corners or costs, the aeb engine seems to be a better replacement and they are relatively cheap for an complete engine. i can rob other bits and possibly sell the turbo/block etc and recoup some costs so it makes better financial sense too. I have a couple more questions regarding ancilleries etc but just looking through pictures of other peoples cars and getting inspiration from those.

Its definately not gonna be a quick project but i hope that the effort i put in before even turning a spanner will pay dividends to the final build and result in a better product.

The worst thing about the project is that the cost of the intercooler and the charger rebuild actually amount to more than all the other components needed to finish it. Going to treat the car to a decent set of weitec TX coilovers as i dont like the fixed damping of the current ones fitted and i dont think they are expensive ones regardless. Some cheapo AP racing things but they do the job at the min and came on the car so shouldnt grumble.

A question about brakes though, will the G60 stoppers with some good quality discs and pads be enough to stop 250+ bhp or is it time to start factoring in the costs of a bigger brake set up. Been looking at changing the rears to Mk4 items already.

Once again all help with this project is appreciated, im hardly a master mechanic so im sure there is be a steep learning curve ahead. Its only a bunch of bolts and blocks of metal though, how hard can it be :bonk:

  9. Hi all.

So i worked me way through one of my cars little nuances this weekend. I purchased a new(well new to me, actually its second hand off another forum member) entire passenger electric window mech and motor and set myself a couple of hours aside as i had read what a problematic job it could be. After drilling and punching the 7 rivits out and then undoing the two window bolts (after taping the window up) it took alot of effort and plenty of swearing to get the bloody thing out! Whoever designed that needs shooting, or at least a large kick up the backside.

Anyway getting the new mech in was alot easier for some reason, maybe something to do with taking the inner and outer lower window seals out to get a little movement in the window.

Instead of using the rubbers to mount it and riviting them back in i decided that i would use some M6 bolts and some rubber washers so that it would be a little easier to swap out the motor etc should i need to do this again in the future. See pics

It was a little fiddy putting the washers behind the door and the bolt through them but its worked nicely so should still dampen the vibration but make it a little easier to change if there is a next time. The rest of it i rivited back up as it was.

Other than shards of glass, indicating the cars probably been broken into at some point in its life i found these two little bits of metal. I dont know what they are and if anybody can shed some light on them id be most appreciated

im pretty sure that i didnt break anything and nothings stopped working so can only assume they are the remnant of something non factory?

So when i find a central locking pump dare i say i will have a 100% working corrado.....for now :)

  10. So anybody driving from south of the venue who wants to meet up and drive in convoy then heres some details and a little map. I propose meeting at the tesco just off the large roundabout in banbury. The green arrow marked on the map, the address is Lockheed Close, Banbury, Oxfordshire OX16 1LX

    ‎

This is probably the easiest point to meet at because its only 15 mins away from the venue and im pretty sure that if your coming from south of here your likely to be driving past anyway. The road to stealth is the A423/Southam Road going north.

If your coming from the south west i imagine you will be brought in via the bloxham road/A361 and through the town and if your coming from the M40, well the maps pretty explanitary.

There is a petrol station at this tesco which sells super unleaded however because of the early hour it will be pay at pump only! There is a shell garage right nest to stealth if you prefer. There is a Drive through McDonalds literally 1 min away too so if people need fuel for themselves they can.

So those who want to meet i will be at the carpark from around 8.30ish and and will be leaving the carpark at 9.15 to get to stealth for 9.30 :)

My Corrado is a G60 and its Dark Burgandy Pearl, I will be parked in the main store car park in a hopefully pretty easy to spot place.

    Looking forward to this now!
