  1. My mate has got an 02-reg Octavia RS and, quick though it is, he still got out-paced significantly by a Corrado VR6 on the A47 a few weeks ago. The Octavia is still a gorgeous motor. If you squint at it from the side it looks a bit like a BMW!
  2. Based on the lush driving position and handling of the Corrado combined with the power delivery and performance of my mum's 53-reg Leon Cupra (180bhp) I really can't imagine a better combination. However, I've always prefered the whizz-bang performance of blower-enhanced motors as opposed to the sheer grunt of larger capacity engines. The 20vT is way more tunable in my opinion and for a relatively small amount of cash. This, however, also depends on your donor engine...i.e. 150bhp, 180bhp, 210bhp, 225bhp. I, personally, am holding out for a 225bhp motor as I believe it's worth the wait.

    Fuel guage problem

Oh well....ignore the majority of what I said then! However, it's still the logical place to find the sender, right?

    Fuel guage problem

If it's the same as the Corrado 16v (and I imagine it is) then the fuel level sender is a float-type device that is part of the 'in-tank' fuel pump assembly. Hence, the pump assembley needs to be removed in order to gain access to it. IIRC it's simply a case of: remove cover from boot floor (three screws I believe), disconnect two fuel pipes, undo fuel pump assembly retaining ring (the big plastic mutha), remove pump assembly. Quite what you're problem is I'm not sure, but I guess that's as good a place as any to start. Just to clarify, it's ONLY the fuel gauge that's playing up, right? If so then the voltage regulator in the clocks is likely out of the equation as I believe this is common to other gauges too...such as the temp. gauge.
  5. Ok, from now on when the Elephant insurance advert comes on the TV I'm switching channels. It's my only way of showing support...these people suck!
  6. 114k at the moment. Was 92k when I bought the car in Novemeber, which seemed low for the general condition of the car, however it came with all the old MOTs since three years old and a shed load of history so it may be right. Who knows?! It starts....it runs....mileage is largely unimportant as it's worth next to nothing. Funny thing is the R6 has just turned 2k miles and I'm gutted!
  7. I was thinking Toyota Corolla....so hard to tell
  8. Holy cr4p....that's got to be a laugh to drive!
  9. kvwloon, Norwich rocks....I especially like the cheap women in Mercy (shame the drinks aren't as cheap). Good times. Henny, would that be the Cat and Fiddle pass that's so popular with motorcyclists? If so I think I've been there - crackin' road.
  10. The price of VAG parts must vary between stealers. I say this because when people say stuff like "they're only £xx from VAG" I generally find that my local stealer (Robinsons - North Walsham) charges more....e.g. £90 inc. VAT for a couple of Lupo wiper arms!
  11. Very "arty-farty" Henny, but I like it. Totally haven't made my mind up about the removal of the tailgate clusters. I think I prefer the standard light arrangement, but I'm just not sure. However, A20 LEE is clearly not about keeping things standard so my only other comment can be nothing less than *wow*
  12. The Corrado IS 80s....that's its best feature I reckon. However, I also prefer body coloured badges but for different reasons I guess.
  13. I like it.....I reaaaaalllllyyyyy reeeeaaaaaallllyyyyy like it..........a lot. Did I mention that I really like it?
  14. Unlikely to do any damage I'd say....will make you look waaaaaayyyyy less cool though. Street cred. damage is possible!
  15. I was at Whitenoise today....on the R6 (!) around about lunch time. Didn't see any Corrados but there was an abundance of air-cooled junk........
  16. If you find you need any '90 spec Golf bits PM me 'cos I've got a shed full of stuff I need to do something with. Most bits will be between cheap and free.
  17. What makes you think it's the matrix? Is the 'water' in the footwell mixed with coolant? Could it possibly be a dodgy blower fan vent seal?
  18. http://the-corrado.net/how-to/index.php ... tails&id=2
  19. Doh. Forgot about the recall
  20. If you mean you simply plugged each of the pipes then that doesn't sound like a good idea since the circulation of the water in the system may be affected. However, bypassing a leaking heater matrix by connecting the input and output pipes together is fairly common. Having never looked at a VR cooling system I'm not 100% sure what you're doing is right/wrong but it just doesn't seem like a good idea to me.

    u like.

Blimey, how many indicators??? I guess somebody thinks they're going to become fasionable in the future.....
  22. Forum saving time and agro.....hmmmm.....maybe this would be a good time to mention the word "donation".....then again, maybe not :)
  23. So I DID get the point....and I even edited my previous post in case you though I was thick!
