F1'a are a good tyre, but I don't like the soft-ish sidewalls and the lack of a segregated central band.Never tried RE050's but everyone says they are awesome, so expensive though! I've got RE720's fitted at the moment, and they are excellent if I don't say so myself, would definitely chose them over F1's anyway ;)

Mate of mine tried a set of R888s at croft, can't comment on their wet weather abilities as it was dry but they certainly stick like shit to a blanket in the dry! Over 100 a tyre though in 15" flavor, and his front's had maybe one track days life left in them atfer just one days use at croft...so not exactly hard wearing  I wouldn't bother for the road, get some bridgestone potenza re720's ;)

306 TD :)
-
Yep neither the Proxes nor F1s have a central band. I didn't like the GSD2s either kev, RE720's all the way! B)
-
Yep! Sounds about right with fitting and balancing...not worth it IMO. better off spending less on something like the bridgestones I've jsut gone for, actually rated higher on tyretest.com than the GSD2 and they're £20 a wheel cheaper ;)

This is the dilema i had, stupid size the VR has so none of the new compounds are available yet :( Here's my experiences from what i've tried....not all on a corrado, but imagine the compound is more important than the size....anyway F1s, great in GSD3 compound but don't rate them so highly in the old GSD2. T1-S's are good, but wear poorly and are noisey, new T1-Rs are much improved but not out in 205/50/R15 yet. Yoko A539s great in the dry crap in the wet, i like these tyres. BF Goodrich G Profiler, very under-rated tyre IMO, probably my favorite to date! Wear really well (managed a whole trackday with 2mm left, and only had to change one to drive home legally! no prizes for guessing which one ) grip well, maybe not as well as the A539s in the dry, but they break away really predictably which makes them fun. Anyway I've just bought a set of Bridgestone Potenza RE720s to try, interesting looking en-even tread pattern on them, they're sat in my greenhouse waiting to be fitted i'll let you know how they go :) Went for these after reading reviews on http://www.tyretest.com, they are supposed to be one of the best wet weather tyres out there, and after this summer I thought that was an improtant factor ;)

EBC pads suck, I'd use them for a paper weights and not much else! Mintex M1144 pads are SUPERB, really really good once warm but you do have to put a bit of heat in them to get them working at their best. Other pads I know are good, although haven't tried them myself, are Ferrodo DS2500's, which are slightly harder compound than the Mintex (between 1144 and 1155 compound) so should last slightly longer. I run Mintex M1144 pads with Brembo Max drilled discs on standard calipers and they refused to fade even after 30 mins solid flat out on track, well worth the extra cash over standard pads in my opinion 8)

Anyone got a link to somewhere that sells neuspeed rear ARBs? What are the benefits to doing the front as well as the back? I don't want the car to be too harsh for everyday use, but if it's worth doing then i'll go with the Eibach set :? So you need to buy anything else to fit a rear ARB + a new set of shocks + springs? Or is it all included? Do i need to buy any new bushes etc?
-
Yep just bought the full kit from larkspeed, £387 delivered, what a bargain! :D
-
Some pics to encourange people  This is why i need new suspension, note the mud on the front splitter from recent trip into neighbouring plowed field  Tough keeping up with the 306s when they're driven like this! 8)
-
Open pit lane for 30 mins per hour, with people in either the on the hour or on the half hour session.
-
I can test my car's top speed on the M40 (my own private section of course) I don't need to wait for brunters  Donny on the 28th of Nov, full day open pitlane in 2 session per hour format....£95, you know it makes sense 8)
-
Do i then also need the uprate suspensiuon bushes to go with them? Just ordered a set of koni top adjustables with springs, hoping in combo with this I'll get a nice improvement :)
-
Where's the best place to buy a rear neuspeed ARB?
-
Not really up for brunters lads, it's a great proving ground but so dull as a track....not my kinda thing, I like a bit more of a challenge. Donny/Croft/Oulten Park/Cadwell are all proper tracks, one of them would be much more fun IMO. I'll be going to the Donnington trackday on the 28th as £95 is too much of a bargain to turn up.... The person who organised the 306gti6 trackday at Croft is thinking about organising another one at Oulton Park, and has asked me to ask you lot if you'd be interested in doing a joint corrado/306 day? I'll put up a proper post about it later when i have more details, but with both forums we should be able to get enough people to keep the cost down hopefully. When you hire the circuit you also get 2 instructors that do free instruction all day as well if that persauds anyone  Track day insurance costs, well last time i got it, 1% of the sum insured with a 10% excess. So for a £5000 car, you'd pay £50 for the day with a £500 excess.
-
Well i'm up for it, they owe me 100quid anyway  Come on lads, Corrado track day gathering woulbe be way cool 8)
-
VR6 not much more powerful than a 2.0 16v? Mines done 126k and it pulls damn well
-
Bookatrack take a cut though so cost more and have un-expectadly cancelled on me at the last minute before which was very annoying as i'd already arrange leave etc :x ...this was a pay in advance event, no risk for the organiser. He collected the money, paid for the track, and then if you didn't turn up then you lost yer £150. The effort came in finding enough people who were willing to pay up front, and chasing those that had said they would for the cash, if not enough people had paid the event would've just been cancelled. However...Donny are running a public trackday onthe 28th of November that I will probably go to. It's only £95 if you ring them direct! (Tel: 01332 819503 to book and ask for Jane) Trackzone want £159 for the same day! If you see my point ;)

A VR6 lump
-
Ahh i saw your post on gti6.com :) Yeah i was able to hold my own mostly (not againts the 250bhp 306 ex-BTCC or the 405 T16!), depite getting black flagged in the morning  But the better 306gti6 drivers definately had the edge on me... Would be up for a Corrado track dat definately, it was £150 each for the day, and there were 33 of us I think....thats with no profit it cost that much to hire the circuit. Don't fancy organising it though, i know the guy that organised this one and it was stressful enough to almost gave him a nervous breakdown lol.
-
Interesting hijacks are OK in my book :) Been thinking the same thing, for £380 I could buy a little 205 gti just for the track probably....but I do love tracking my VR 8)
-
Have to say I kinda miss my 306gti6 as well, great cars and very chuckable (i.e. fun)....still wouldn't trade my VR for another, the sound alone is enough to persaude me of that :D
-
Ahh so that's the difference between a torsion BEAM and torsion bars that pug uses, you don't get independant rear wheel travel, how does that affect the handling? Is this the reason that I'm not getting lift off oversteer? I think I'll splash out the £380 for that set above, but take it I'll also be needing two more matching springs as well for the back? Sorry for all the questions, thanks for the info guys :)
-
Is the rear suspension independant? Or are the two wheels fixed? So if i lower the front I'd have to lower the back a few splines to match? (I was a pug man so know about this....if it's the same) Thanks again for the advice and the clicky...£380 does sound good am very tempted.....what would be the advantage of sticking with standard springs over the Koni ones kevhaywire?
-
£390 doesn't sound too bad! Was expecting more like £600...Any recommendations on where to buy from? I take it fiting is straight forwards but time consuming? (I've replaced front suspension before but only on french cars). What does a nuespeed rear anti-roll bar do for the handling? The back for me felt very planted, almost too planted, wouldn't go at all even if i tried hard to provoke it, just turned into understeer if i pushed it too much which was a touch annoying sometimes.... One more question, what setup is the rear suspension on these? Does it have a torsion bar that needs adjusting to match the front if I lower the front? Is it IRS? Cheers for the advice :)
