I hope it's not that too! It's not leaking large amounts of gearbox oil, so I'm hoping it's just a weaping gasket or sump :?

Corrado Spotting Archive February 2005
kebabman replied to Roger Blassberg's topic in General Car Chat
Saw someone driving like a tit down the Woodstock road, into Oxford, at 6:35PM. You were about 1/2 mile from the roundabout coming up to the 1st speed camera. I was on a bike going the other way, saw you and thought what a twat driving in town like that, then I noticed it was a Corrado when it got closer :( It was a dark coloured (possibly blue) G60 i think, had a red front grille badge. Just take it easy in town fella's! No need. -
Sorry guys but I thought AMD charged me lot for the services they provided, and wasn't really overly impressed. :(
-
Looking at the photo's now it does look like that....but it didn't when I was under the car :? How much is a new sump?....mines not exactly in good nick anyway
-
Ahh ok, cheers for the info :)

Just done an oil change on my VR, what a stupid non-intuitive process compared to any other car I've done, why do VW make everything hard? I mean, a PLASTIC oil filter cover requiring a 36mm socket to remove is ridiculous *breath* Anyway, I noticed I have an oil leak from the engine-gearbox gastket, but the g'box level is fine, is this usual for a VR and nothing I should worry about or should I get it fixed? I've cleaned the area up to keep an eye on it...here's a pic of what it looked like before.
-
Finally took a pic, and think I've sussed what it is at the same time  This is the plug....what's the plastic canister thing to the right? Goes here..... is this the external temp sensor?
-
Awesome! Thanks again 8)

Cheers mate :) Is there a list online anywhere with all these part numbers? Do you know the ECU number for a late '94 VR6?
-
Does anyone know if the ECU with Bosch p/n: 0261200495 is the Corrado or the Golf VR6 ECU? :? Cheers
-
I've got the same combo and it works a treat :D
-
Have to say I feel the same as kevhaywire here, had P6000s on my GTi-6 and they lasted ages but were frankly a bit rubbish on the grip front.....might be worth have a look around even if you think it's all OK. For your new boots may I recommend Bridgestone's Potenza RE720 8)

Cheers lads, I haven't looked yet, is it just a coupld of screws to remove the surround? Joe M - seen the Oulton Park 12th of Feb trackday update? ;)
-
Hi guys, Where abouts is the diagnostics port on a '94 VR6? I tried the search first please don't flame me  Cheers :)

If anyones interested, one of the bike mags this month (I think it's RiDE, but I can't remember for sure) did back to back dyno comparrisons between 95RON, Optimax and BP Ultimate. The bikes made about 3% extra power on the more expensive fuels, Optimax doing slightly better (half a percent) than Ultimate...but the fuels cost 7% more. So their conclusion was that it's down to you whether you think the small but real gain is worth the cost. My VR has a sticker under the fuel flap (in german, so I'm presuming it's original?) that says Minimum 95RON recommended 97RON... Personally I always use 97+RON fuel unless I know I'm going to use it all on a long boring motorway trip, but I'm not fussy which, been mainly the "new" Esso Supreme recetnly as it's the cheapest near me.

Thanks mate, have been looking for new matts as my drivers one was in such a sorry state I've had to take it out and hadn't been able to face VW prices. Will be buying myself a set of these now! 8) EDIT: Hmmm am I being thick? Clicked the link and they didn't come up, and I've looked around but can't find them on their website  Have you got a P/N?
-
There's some CCC 'Action Days' at the start of April....they're quite cheap, but as a consequence you get lots of...how shall I put it....not so skilled drivers on the track. I wouldn't risk my car TBH. Best bet is to look at the usual suspects websites and see what they've got coming up, bookatrack.com, easytrack.co.uk, and track action are all reasonably priced ;)
-
Really? Where do you get these cool random facts from? 8)
-
I had similar simptoms and it was the pedal position sensor.
-
Much much does S/C'ing affect the life of the motor? If it's a high mileage lump (120k+), I presume you'd be foolish not to have some rebuild work done before attempting to S/C it?
-
Think everythings been said already.....very goo din the dry, wear out quite quickly but are cheap, not very confidence inspiring in the wet. Personally I don't like the Toyo's, Bridgstones Potenza RE720 is my current favorite, but you can do a lot worse than Yoko A539s :)
-
What does this clatter sound like? :?
-
Dennis.be, I like your rear clusters, who are they made by? 8)
-
What does the chain rattle sound like? Any sound clips of it? Mines done 127k and I don't know if the chains have been changed.....it's got FVWSH but I can't see any mention of them in any of the service receipts.
-
Nice one lads, look forward to seeing the figures 8) *shameless plug* Now all of you should sign up for the Oulton trackday on the 12th Feb
