I am looking to upgrade my front brakes on my VR It currently has standard 280mm and 15" alloys - I know I can fit the 288mm discs under the alloys but do I need to replace the callipers, carriers and pads to a larger size, and if so, what size? Thanks guys
-
I think I might also be interested in this - please keep me informed of price. And I hope the instructions are nice and clear - I'm a bit ham fisted when it comes to electronics!!

Thanks for all this guys - So it sounds like; If I have the time for bigger job then change the full setup - ABS unit and the discs, shoes and pads. If I want to just do the simpler job, then it's Mk3 Discs, either mk4 or mk3 Gti callipers and decent pads. Am I right in thinking to swap all the discs and callipers, or just the front? Surely it would make sense to do front and back?

Hi I am looking to improve the brakes on my 'rado. I currently have speedline alloys on and am not likely to change these anytime soon. Simply put - Whats the best set up I can put together to fit my set up? Not looking to break the bank (is anyone ever?), but no clear budget yet

Kallus Do you still have the lights or has VW Bobby or Andy had them? PM me if you still have them - I'd be keen to have them if you could post to me. Cheers
-
That sounds good Mike!! Can we work out a way of you getting me a set (or two depending on cost)??? Let me know

Hi mike I am lead to believe it is 535941297. VW Heritage have said they can't get them anymore, but would appreciate you looking! Thanks

Hi I need some headlight adjusters - a pair would be great if poss I have tried this once further down this part of the forum and was given a link, ordered some and say twiddling my thumbs to be told by VWHeritage that the adjusters are no longer available! Anyone got any knocking around? I'm happy to pay for them!! I appreciate they might still be attached to the lamps, so I may need to buy them too OR Has anyone got any suggestions for a repair/modification/replacement - the white retaining sleeve has broken on both of mine! All ideas welcome!!
-
Super!!! Have ordered some of them, cos they are bound to break again!! Thanks!!

I might well do mate , but one of the reason for the swap is my broken beam adjusters on my standard ones. Those parts are in the post so I speak to you at a later point, assuming you haven't picked some up by then.

Hi I'm need for some beam adjusters for the standard lights on a 'rado. Mine are both broken, but the rest of the lights are intact so only need the adjusters......anyone?? cheers

Cheers Clearly a job for the summer!!!

And change the loom - with some osram night breaker bulbs and a new loom the standard lights are cracking. Having said that - Im currently going in the other direction - going from standard to angel eyes!

Hi everyone I'm looking to remove the external door trim/bumpers - I prefer the smoother lines of the 'rados I have seen without and so have discovered that they don't appear to do much with regard stopping me twatting the doors on the varying inanimate objects that plague our parking spaces! What's the best way of getting them off - hair dryer and patience?

Super, thanks!! Will head out and have a noses when it stops raining!

Thanks for the help guys It might be an intermittent fault - saw the reflection in the other car on the driveway briefly. Think I lost track of which way round the wiring was applied to the two clusters (this is what comes of trying to see it through the rear view mirror rather than use a second person!!) so it might have been the fogs that were wired up as a pair. Going to start at the gearbox as this seems to be a common fault - going to dig my pdf manual out I think. Unless someone has a pic to hand...........

Hi guys and gals After almost reversing over several VR owners at the recent Brooklands event, I was informed I had no reversing lights Initially I thought it was just bulbs but now I have had the panel off I have discovered I only have one of the reversing lights with wiring attached (yet I have wiring for both fogs on the same circuit) and it is not the bulb. There is no obvious loose connections at the light cluster point and bulbs are working when tested elsewhere. Does anyone have any suggestions with regards fault finding or decent auto electrician in staffordshire?

I also used a watch makers/precision screw driver - the difficult part was holding the driver in place and twisting it - I used one of those drivers with the free moving top of the screw driver so I could push and twist at the same time and used needle nose pliers to turn whilst I held in place with the other hand. Wasn't very tight at all and was really surprised as all the information on here suggested I would in for a difficult job Someone the other day told me that trapping a rubber band between the screw and the screw driver head works for extra grip when the head has been buggered!

Ok, nevermind I'm no where near Lee on the Solent and three months ago I ended my 8 years of travelling there regularly, typically. If you do get time to pop them in an envelope that would be great and I'll let you have an address, but if not don't worry.
