High Wycombe Monthly VAG meet - 03/03/13
Yega replied to Yega's topic in Event Announcements & Discussion
It is indeed. -
The guy was very honest and good about the whole thing, with tons of receipts to back up everything. I just hope that I can look after it well and do it justice. I think I'll be taking the charger to Jabba Motorsports when it needs a rebuild, seeing as G-Werks is no more :(

High Wycombe Monthly VAG meet - 03/03/13

Awesome. Forgot to mention the time, which is 19:00. People will slowly start turning up around that time. Let me know where you are coming from and I'll see if there is a convoy which you could join. -
Which size Halfords ones do you guys have?
-
Thank you Billzeebub. I always fancied a VR6, love the noise, but was very tempted by the G60 after doing quite a lot of research online. I am convinced that I will own a car with a V6 engine at some point in my life though :)

Hi all, Thought I would post this here to invite any local VAG owners to our monthly meet. This is not strictly Corrado but we do have some making up the numbers. Below is all the info you need. The location for the meet is on level 5 Eden car park, Lillys Walk, Postcode for Sat Navs is HP11 2DQ - Exit M40 Jct 4 and follow signs A404 High Wycombe, once at the bottom of hill follow turn left then right then left at the three close roundabouts, the fire station will be on your right, as you start to go over the flyover there is a set of lights, take the exit onto lilly's Walk and keep going till you come to the car park entrance on your right. come up the spiral to level 5 and wait to be instructed where to park. As we do not want to attract the attention of the local Corsa crews and police please refrain from any of the following: Revving Engines, Playing loud music, Racing up and down the carpark, and generally acting like a cock!! Do you really want to be the one to ruin a meet for everyone? Normal rules of the road apply, This is a VAG only meet anything non VAG will have to park outside, after last months antics we will be more than happy to pass details of trouble makers to the police. Any questions feel free to PM me.

This might be useful, have a read: http://www.jabbasport.com/superchargers.php The different stages signify different mods that are done to the supercharger and other bits in the engine. Thats the way I understand it anyway.
-
I...ehm...Bought one
-
I'm kind of impatient, especially when I set my mind on something :D There are minor bits wrong with it as mentioned but ye, so far it seems to be all good. Most important to me is that the engine runs well, which my mechanic friend tells it is.
-
Thanks for all the replies guys. This is really useful. Had a look on Revs West and couldnt find any car covers on their site. The one from http://www.everycarcovered.com looks good, pricey but good. Will have to check my budget and think about it. For now the car will have to deal with the elements on its own

Yeah, took about a month of searching but finally found one. I believe it belonged to a member on here (here is the for sale ad: http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?61226-Corrado-G60-Aqua-Blue-2575-00-GBP&highlight=aqua+blue) So you can see the other work that has been done on it.

As of this afternoon I am a proud owner of a Corrado G60! Drove up 160 miles to Sheffield to pick it up and had a great drive back home - didn't want to get out of it when I arrived! The car will be a weekend car mainly, using my Golf as a daily. I'll get some pics up tomorrow when its day time but here is a quick status of the car: 1991 H reg 148k miles Slightly lowered on FK shocks and springs Engine has been serviced and looked after well Supercharger rebuild 6k miles ago Body in good general condition, with no signs of rust, and only one minor dent to fix on passenger rear wheel arch Paint work is OK - lacquer peal and few stone chips here and there, but thats to be expected Leather interior in good general condition Sunroof lining needs work as it gets caught when it slides back, ripping the lining So plan for it so far is: VW service Full clean inside and outside to get it nice and shiny Fix the sunroof lining Remove the G60 badge off the front Shorten the shifter (gear changes are taking me too long, cant get used to it yet) Change the steering wheel to a smaller one of some sort Replace the door speakers to a 2-way system, purely for nice sound quality Replace the spare BBS wheel with a space saver, get new boot carpet - so I can have a flat boot Future work: Paint job New wheels Possibly get a new custom exhaust without the catalytic converter Here are some pics of the car from the previous owner: http://s206.beta.photobucket.com/user/mattupnorth/library/Corrado

Looking for some advice as to what it best to protect the car from rain/snow, etc. I'm still looking for a garage to store the car in during the week, but I don't think I'll be able to find anything near where I live. I've heard car covers can make the pain sweat and that's something I want to avoid. Are there any other options?
-
Genuinely made me lol!
-
That's annoying! I avoid the gritters like a plague if I can, had one damage my bonnet before with all those little stones!

Corrado inspection - Sutton Coldfield, Birmingham
Yega replied to VeeDub_NZ's topic in General Car Chat
I can't actually offer you any help with the garages as I don't live anywhere near there but is it this car by any chance: http://the-corrado.net/showthread.php?78717-Black-G60-for-%A32-999-in-Sutton-Coldfield-Birmingham -
Fingers crossed I should be picking up a G60 this Sunday. Its the one in my previous post, one in Sheffield. Been speaking to the guy since Monday and have enough information to be confident it will be a good buy. It has some issues that need resolving, but I'll do a build thread and list them out there.
-
Sounds fair. Don't mean to hijack this thread but for all you guys in W/NW London and the surrounding area there is a VAG meet once a month in High Wycombe. I will post the details of it nearer the time in the Events section of this forum so keep an eye out. Would love to have more Corrados. We have 2 atm.

If I remember right it was around £350. That's from the manifold down (keeping original manifold), including the flexipipe (downpipe) and a choice of any tip I wanted (went for the R32 style as you can see in the video). They used a 3.5" pipe all the way along. Drop them an email stating what you are after and see what they say.

G60Radoboi where abouts in London are you? I had my exhaust done at a garage in St Albans, company called EMP Performance. They do a very good job of making custom exhausts. Made my Golf sound like this:
-
I would only decat if I was replacing the whole exhaust, because sport cats are expensive. I think it might be useful for cars with turbos more than naturally aspirated engines (please correct me if I'm wrong).
-
My beautiful G60, check out the millage :)

Wow great work! -
Good thread. Already done this on my Golf, mind you its a TDi so the emissions are not a problem - it has passed last 3 MOT's with no problem. How sure are you about that rule Jim? Ones I'm looking at are all H/J reg so should get away with removing the cat and letting the engine sing :D
-
I debadged my Golf and will also be doing it to the Corrado. I like the mean look :D
-
If anyone has an account on Edition 38 forum there is a G60 selling on there, looks quite decent and sounds like its been looked after apart from one thing he mentioned which is that the roof lining is sagging on the sunroof panel. Does that sound bad and like it will be a lot of work to fix? Here is a link to the ad: http://www.edition38.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=485922 (alternatively if you cant see that click here http://puu.sh/24L85) This one is in Sheffield.
