  1. sorry to start this up again

guys please look at this picture again

    thermostat.jpg

The yellow senor is the one on the left. Yes? Labelled No. 5?

I have a VW ABV engine maintence book and that senor is postioned in the middle! In the book is says Fan runs on at 94 degress to 104 degress. Off at 94 degrees and below.

If you look at the ETKA screenshot does it not look like it states on at 95 to 100 degrees? And that sensor 7 kicks in the heavy stage FAN at 112 degrees?

The reason I bring this up again is that mine is now running at around 93 degrees all the time when driving. Coolant is not leaking and oil is clean. I would just like confirmation of what the correct temp is for the fans to be kicking in and out. Thanks.

  2. Guys, which of the senders, 5 - 6 or 7 is responsible for the different fan stages. I seem to have only 1 on mine. Kicks in around 96 degrees. Nothing before that. Also the thermostat is supposed to open at 80 isn't it? so why would fans be running before something over 80C?

  3. @ 24V Renshaw

    @ kevHaywire

Thanks for the info guys. Kev i think you're right about the ride been better the lower it is cos I raised it up an inch after the first two months cos the speed bumps where I work were rubbing the sump.

Will check the PSI too when I get home Jay, I reckon my pressure is much higher. Thanks

  4. @ Jay

My H&R's are not damping adjustable only height adjustable! eek!

Please someone tell me what kind of tyre pressure should I be running. I guess the factory settings are out the window with non standard tyres?

Would the 45 profile give me a little more comfort?

    thanks guys

and yup, it don't see much bad roads.......i try to avoid them!

  5. Just got my BBS RS 301's from Austria last Friday.....another ebay purchase!

Have wanted these wheels for years and finally took the plunge and blew a wad of cash.

Do many people run 215/40/17 or 205/45/17 tyres on these? Any problems I can expect instead of using 205/40/17's?

I have her lowered maybe 25mm on H&R Coilovers already too.

The ride is quite harsh now.....

  6. Well guys I took these few pics just before the sun when down this evening!

And of course they only come on when the doors open!

Like I said, they are earthed to the door switches and I have taken a live from a spare connection in the fuse box and hooked up a 5amp fuse to it at the fuse box also. Just to be safe.

they are not PC case lights and are surrouned by a clear plastic case and they do not generate any heat at all!

They came with cigarette lighter connections and I just cut them off.

I do not have or ever intend to put neons on the outside of the car......ever.......I am not a chav either......nor ever will be!

My mate has a celica and he has factory lights in the footwells and thats were I got the idea. Girlfriend could never find her handbag on the floor.

I got the neons on ebay really cheap last year.

  7. Chavy! he he he he

they look very good when the doors open and really only light up the footwells. I have been to loads of shows here in Ireland with the car and on the Karmann trip and nobody even noticed!!

Anyways I will take some pics tomorrow evening and post them up.

Regard wiring it was easy, all I had to do was connect them to an ignition live and then earth them to the wire on one of the door switches. I just daisy chained the two neons together so that both light up together.

  8. I have an Aqua Blue Pearl Vr6 and I have fitted 6 inch blue neons in my footwells on the underside of the dash. the are linked up to the earth on the door switches so light up when the doors open. they are very small and look great when the doors open, floods the footwells with a warm blue glow.

    :)

  9. @ supercharged

Nice to meet you too buck, had a great time.

    @Keith + The Leningrad Cowboy/Paul

We had a great time at the Nurburg ring, pity you guys couldn't come. Don't think I set any new speed record with my Corrado, I just babied her around the track. Make sure you get Keith to send me on any pics he got! I'll put up a link to mind as soon as I get them sorted!

That mug belongs to Irish Paul, ah I think he'll be ok without it :)

The Hasselhoff song was a blast!

  10. just back lads from the "Euro-Trip"! Nurburg ring was a blast!!!

thanks to Eric for all his organising! It wouldn't have been possible without him!

Just looked through the photos there and nobody got any pics of the Irish on the beer!!! shocked I am!

Anyways I have plenty of ye drunk and talking shite which I will post after I get some sleep. Done about 600miles today in the corrado France to UK to sligo Ireland...needez sleep!

  11. my mate has a 190bhp 1/8 VVT-Li Celica and he bought one of those G-Tech Pro Meters. Used it in his car and is pulling 8secs 0-60.

Tried it in my Vr6 and I get 7.1 fastest time yet. I hit 60 in second gear, speedo says 60, spoiler is up at 60 and the G Tech Pro Meter also flashes 60mph. It says its got an " Accerlometer" in it.

Seems damn accurate but I would not have belived it possible only I tried it for myself.

Can't get anywhere near the 6.4 or 6.7 stated time for the Vr6 though!

  12. A mate of mine knows I'm obsessed with Corrado and this is what he emailed me today at work!

He's got too much time on his hands! he he he
