  1. Took pics of my tbs ive been collecting over the years to show people the differences. Heres pics of tbs from left to right, from a mk1,mk2 8v/16v & porsche 924s Also included pics of standard 16v tb(notice size of spindle and screws on small butterfly) Then flowed tb with machined spindles and countersunk screws! I fitted a standard audi 2l 16v tb on mine today, replacing the flowed 1 and the car has no throttle response wot so ever and feels so gutless until you open up the second butterfly. This is because the small butterfly obviouslt poses as a restriction with the big spindle and big screws
  2. Ok nice 1! Have we learnt anything from this thread yet?
  3. i see what your saying about my engine. Its currently 162bhp,i have a flowed head and 2l bottom end to go on it and that will make it same spec as gvks except mine has 4 branch. Gvk is making 186bhp so mine could make same maybe more?,so that would mean approx 28bhp for 2l bottom and flowed head and a re-tune
  4. The whole idea of the wur mod of richining the mixture, helps to run more timing advance without pinking. This is why stealth can get approx 155bhp from a standard 1.816v engine without any other mods except a tune.Valvers run lean high up. Cos your 2l ke-jet cars cant have the wur mod,it seems you cant run as much advance cos the chip cannot give the fuelling to match? Also you can run more advance with flowed heads. Mine made 162bhp (1.8cc) with just a 4branch and 2 exhaust cams o and k-jet. Timing was set to 9degrees with wur mod Both gvk and tubs on clubgti are running approx 186bhp with standard internals and kr cams on k-jet
  5. I didnt realise you where fitting an abf.Ian bs engine was built by tsr and that hasnt had alot done internally. Theres another chap with same spec engine on throttlebodies making 199bhp. The price for injectors, chip, mapping and fpr will be more than a tune up with k-jet at approx an hours work £60. I can totally appreaciate that k-jet is basic and cant be tuned as accurate as digipants in certain areas, and as the enigines coming out it wont be such a bad job to convert to digi
  6. ian b is running 201bhp on club gti,2l 16v on k-jet,shrick cams etc Stealth can tune the k-jet better than actually chipping a digipants,so unless your planning a turbo or charger i cant see it being worth the time and labour
  7. Why would you want to do it? k-jet is good for upto 200bhp
  8. Getting slated about it on clubgti forum but im guna fit it anyway and post the improvements
  9. nice! im to embarresed to post my pics
  10. Heres the pics,im well impressed with my mates fab work, hes custom made the plenum and welded it to a 42mm top half of manifold, incorparating the flange for the porsche tb

    Sideskirts

I had em on mine and thought they looked brilliant
  12. Was thinkin this also but never seen it done. Bring on the crystal fogs n indicators
  13. Ive got a 13 row mocal on my 16v without a thermostat. It take a little while longer to warm up but the water temp stays lower in general and can agree, the oil wont go over 100! vw state you shouldnt drive aggressivley until the oil temp is at 50
  14. Ive just fitted some golf 1s to mine
  15. good to see you on the forum andy!
  16. Remember they are for a mk1 so quite a bit of modding is needed.I sold mine modded for £150,theres a few people after em in the wanted section
  17. the quality is terrible though did anyone see their bits at edition38? really bad finish. The simple bits were nice like scuttles but that because they just cut them out of a bit of carbon! I will point out that they have been advertising some faulty carbon products from a power cut they had so maybe it was them?
  18. so joining the wires turns it off or on permanently?
  19. The daddies of carbon parts! They had a rallye demo car
  20. Are you doin long journeys? I get about 10-15mpg on my mfa and i only do short journeys and never get into 5th gear
  21. measured the standard throttlebody plates yesturday: small butterfly 36mm Large butterfly 52mm Which if i did my maths correctly, would mean a surface area of 64mm Firebreather is 60mm so shouldnt really cause engine to lean out?
