DubWhiZZ 0 Posted October 18, 2004 PVW is shite and gets worth every month, I went into Smiths today to get a copy just for this article but ended up reading it in there and buying Golf+ instead, far better technical stuff in there and they feature proper modified VW's not £20k Rice'd up mongrels.. thats garbage, PVW get all the best cars. far better technical? they're re-hashing the shit they printed five years ago. and god knows what the riced up mongrels comment is about... why are forums always used to vent peoples frustration with not even a cock of the hat to the evidence / truth ... at the end of the day, traction was shit. i ran the 15's cos the porsche centre caps weren't finished yet. and i thought 15's might have been better. i've run better times at york in the dry. and my car feels loads better since daz breathed on the charger (3 days before the thrash). kudos to the rest of the DF (and CF) boys for turning up. we had a go, we had a laugh, we broke 4 cars, we drive home. all in the pouring rain. andas for ian recording a 13.4? not til he quits the pies  Matt
Jim 2 Posted October 18, 2004 Heh.. I think we all thought about pies once we discovered the Airport Cafe! Just wish i'd of thought about going earlier in the day rather than waiting right until the last minute when I was STAAARVING :) Was a cracking day - thanks for letting me tag along. Shame that my times were appalling!
aposegil 0 Posted October 19, 2004 i can understand people prefer the different mags for different reasons but every time i look at PVW all they have is cars that are built for shows but not ragged not saying its for all the cars but personally i think its sad how some of these cars only do 200 miles a years just to make sure they dont mark their cars etc then u look at the cars in the golf and most of them this year i know personally myself and i know they have been ragged as hard as they have been built so in that respect im a build them hard thrash them even harder guy so PVW appels to me like putting my face in dog crap once they start doing more drivers cars other than show n shione winners ill stop moaning oh and maybe they should learn to print what they are told aswell and not what they want to print  if where going to get tech about articles
Henny 0 Posted October 19, 2004 andas for ian recording a 13.4? not til he quits the pies  Matt Yeah, right, Fatlad... Like you've room to talk about pie-eating! On the whole PVW / Golf+ / Maxpower/ Volksworld front, I go with the theory that I have no preferred magazine anymore.... Personally, rather than forking out nearly £4 per mag for a load of adverts I don't want to read, a load of articles on cars that don't always interest me and professional proof readers who don't spot blindingly obvious mistakes, I'd rather look at a couple of good forums to see what's going on where any mistakes are gently pointed out and corrected.... ;) Just as well I've found DUBFORCE.NET, OLDSKOOLDUBS.NET and, of course, THE Corrado Forum! 8)

Kevin Bacon 5 Posted October 19, 2004 I don't read any of the VW magazines cause they're all comics, apart from VWM. Gone are the days of the Mid 90s where every month something ground breaking and interesting awaits you, such as the Oxford Edition MK2 VR6, Swedish Silver MK2 Turbo, Larry Edwards' MK2 ripping up the 1/4 track, Mark Elliot's awesome MK1 16V Turbo etc..... Now, all you get is the same old, same old MK2s some of us had 10 years ago....yawn. PVW used to be OK but it's gone right down the pan now.

DubWhiZZ 0 Posted October 19, 2004 i can understand people prefer the different mags for different reasons but every time i look at PVW all they have is cars that are built for shows but not ragged WTF? Best car they've featured this year IMO (cos I'm MK2 thru and thru and every time i see this car i see something new) was Simon Sweetlands revamped 20v. and he screwed it up the strip all afternoon at festival beating a scooby amongst others. look at the group thrashes, the number of rolling roads and shoot outs theyve covered. if the scene is more about shows than quarters or track days don't shoot the messenger. oh and maybe they should learn to print what they are told aswell and not what they want to print  if where going to get tech about articles amen. i dont like my surname but its better than the one they gave me... Matt

Kevin Bacon 5 Posted October 19, 2004 Yeah, the one on white alloys and mega slammed! They were the days.....inters used to be really good in the 90s. Had a blast round the carpark in the "Vauxwagen". Remember that? The Green MK1 with a 2.0 16V Vauxhall engine in it. Went like stink! In those days, people used to drive from all over Europe but people seldom bother now - fed up with the Boy Racers showing off all the time. And Larry Edwards. What a heap his car was on the outside but jeez did that thing go!! I also remember Mark Elliot pull a 13.01 1/4 in his MK1 16V Turbo on the same day he got back from his trip abroad, so was full of luggage! I hope Inters gets back to that some day as the VW scene is getting boring now. Thank feck the C forum is here 8)
h100vw 0 Posted October 19, 2004 Mark Eliot stopped at my house before the York 'Show' in 1997 I think it was. This was after he had his second engine fitted running with nitrous. Not much you could tell him about fettling mk1s and 16Vs. Recently I have seen his mk1 (00E 926 X) at Dubsport, it now looks to be running 4wd. Kevin Bacon 5 Posted October 19, 2004 Ah, some old School boys onboard, cool! Yeah Mark blew his first engine, holed piston number 4 IIRC. Too much NOS, but it was in it's infancy over here in those days!
