Spoiler

Recommended Posts

:( I been searching for answers about the spoiler that is in my Corrado, Would anyone tell me if there is a fuse related problem if the spoiler doesn't respond to anything, like switch and speed? My spoiler is stuck  in the up position.

Actually, It does work sometimes, I just have to restart my engine and there I could control it in the switch. When I get up to speed it will go up and stay up won't go down, what should I do???

Strip it down and clean up the mechanism, then grease it up with some good quality white grease. see if that helps.... 8)

Time for some thread ressurection, just to prove I searched! :p

I was having similar problems (although my spoiler appears to be on the same circuit as the sunroof and glovebox light, on a 15A fuse that's lasted a year since I bought the car) so I stripped it down and greased the mechanism. Now the weirdest thing is happening:

From the switch, the spoiler goes up a bit, then stops. Wait ten seconds or so, then there's a clicking from the tailgate, and pressing the switch again allows the spoiler to go up a bit more, until the same thing happens. Wait ten secs etc...

Same thing on the way down.

Now, my only clue is that I put too much grease in, and it's gumming up the switches that tell the mechanism when the spoiler is at full travel, but this wouldn't explain why waiting a bit allows it to go up a bit more.

Any help appreciated!

Official lubrication is talcum powder for the lift arm shaft areas!!!!!!!

And just before you buzz of borrowing the bedroom smelly stuff, it ain't that variety. It's the cycle repair kit white chalky stuff.

Putting grease on, yeah makes it work but as soon as daily road dust sticks to it, lovely, grinds to a halt.

Better off waxing polishing the lift arms regularly with a little bit of talc smeared on afterwards.

Little gem from 1988 :-)

Very early Corrado spoilers have a timing delay built in (1988 - 1991). Not entirely sure as I couldn't find the little note tonite. You wouldn't notice it when driving as you don't know when the gearbox speed pulses reach "lift it " command level but on the switch there would be a delay between demand and the spoiler actually moving. Late 1992 onwards the feature was deleted. Does that make any sense to any early non face lifted owners???

Another little gem :-) :-)

I may be wrong but thought the offical lubrication was graphite powder which I can get in my local hard ware store, not sure where else you can get it. The other option is i suppose buy a very soft pencil and colour in the spoiler arms..... LOL

Seriously though, graphite works a treat and seems to last for ever...

Mines just started acting up too.

After much messing round getting the g/f to flick the switch while I was round the back end (oo-er) it's doing similar to above.

Keeping the button pressed all the time, it'll raise up a centimeter, spoiler motor will click and stop for exactly 5 seconds. Raise another centimeter. Click & stop, and so on until after about 3 weeks it's at full extension. Same on the way down.

Took it for a blast, and when I got to raise speed it only lifted a single clicks worth (1 cm). Slowed right down to lowering speed and it stayed there. Had to lower it with the button. All very odd.

Not a lubrication issue this, it's as if the motor is running on the intermittent wiper setting.

Anyone had similar probs??

Just spent the last 4 hours stripping my spoiler and motor and now I also have the same problem as the above :confused4: TBH the motor was pretty immaculate and the cables only a bit gummed up. So this was a problem I had before I stripped everything.

Anybody know how to fix this?

Thanks

Matt
