oxfordpaul 0 Posted November 25, 2004 My driver's seat doesn't really heat up - when the switch is on the relay clicks on and off regularly as if it's cutting out too quick. I've swapped the driver/passenger relays and it's the same so it must be the seat or the switch. I think it was Ice white that said it's the heated element in the seat but i've tried prodding around to see if the contact is made to no avail. Question is, if the switch was faulty could it cause the relay to constantly switch off? Can it be tested and if so, how? Don't want to buy a new switch if it's not bust! billinjah 0 Posted November 25, 2004 swap the switches too??
Nick_Micouris 0 Posted November 26, 2004 if the relay clicks - it is not the switch. Peel back the seat cover on the bumrest and you may find that one of the wires has burnt out , so you will need to bypass one of the elements. It is what was wrong with mine. Have a look. oxfordpaul 0 Posted November 26, 2004 I did have a look at the base cushion element and it looked absolutely fine - no scorch marks or anything. If the backrest elemnt had a problem would this also prevent the base element from heating up? I thought they were independant of each other. I don't see how I could swap the switches over as they are combined in one block - could shove some wire in between I suppose and try that...any thoughts? Ice White Socks 0 Posted November 26, 2004 You can get a broken element in the seat pad- ie a clean break- not one thats due to a burn out Mine has the same- no scorch marks but won't work. On mine the wires will sometimes touch and the seat will work, so I can make the relay click on and off by pressing at the point of the pad where I know the break is. The wires on your pad may not be close enough to do the same. I am going down the new pad route to be honest- along with a new seat base and a new bolster :)

too hot 0 Posted November 29, 2004 Out of curiosity how warm do the heated seats get.My passenger seat heats up fine but it does not seem very warm.Drivers side doesnt work at all.Tried swapping over relays as the drivers side one makes a horrible noise(difficult to describe, kind of constant clicking noise)but no joy. I only ask as I got a lift in a new Saab the other day and the hot seats nearly burned my bum :!:
