_leon_ 0 Posted January 17, 2005 Well, finally got round to taking some pics after some initial work and a clean! Had the car a few months now and have been getting some essentials done to it including supercharger rebuild, replacing belts and fluids, fixing locks, horn etc. Very happy with the purchase still and have lots more planned for it. For now am focusing more on improving the cars condition and prolonging its life rather than increasing power - although a few track days are planned this year so the next few months leading up to it will be 'productive' ;) Heres a snapshot of current progress :)

_leon_ 0 Posted January 18, 2005 Cheers for the comments guys - so far its a good running car that hasn't given me any trouble - even after being offroad for a month during some engine work it started first time... Great when a 13.5 year old car does that :) Bally - no, its just they need replacing - the silver reflective backing has started to flake away so they almost look dirty. I'll sort them sometime soon...
coullstar 0 Posted January 18, 2005 You managed to get some BBS's then. V.Nice. What suspension are you running?
_leon_ 0 Posted January 18, 2005 Yeah really pleased with the BBS'. they need refurbishing though I'll hold off till spring to do that. Suspension was fitted by the last owner - Vipertech (lowering by 40mm), new bushes too :)
coullstar 0 Posted January 19, 2005 Whats the vipertech like?
_leon_ 0 Posted January 19, 2005 I'm happy with it so far - the setup is very stiff though - gives very direct handling which i love, though bumps are not pleasant. When I had 17s on the car was basically like a big go-kart to drive. I'm in two minds to replace the springs to slightly softer ones and raise the ride height by 5mm. The 15s have brought added some extra ride comfort but I could tell instantly that some sharpness in the handling was lost... A track day will give me a real idea of how good the overall setup is... :)
mark_ingle 0 Posted January 19, 2005 Wheels look really good on, almost gutted i sold them now :( But the car looks great.
Guest Posted April 12, 2005 _leon_, nice one mate.. wish i had leather :!: Whats the progress so far?
_leon_ 0 Posted April 13, 2005 Cheers mate :) Yeah I do love the leather. When the leather has been treated and the inside is totally clean, its awesome (in my opinion!). Tbh the black inside and out totally sold it for me... As for progress I've been busy 'correcting' things. Fixing: - horn - locks - interior bits Replaced: - various pipes in boost system - airbox with k&n - all engine mounts (VT front and OEM rears) - 1 or 2 pulleys (more to be done though) - serpentine belt - PAS belt and pulley - new coolant (after a hose burst the other day in Edinburgh) - oil changes, filters - plugs - lights - replaced speakers Next lot of work includes (in no order): - full supersprint exhaust - rsr outlet - possibly miltek downpipe/supersprint manifold - eagle f1s all around - parcel shelf - few interior bits - mocal oil cooler - good tune up - boost gauge - new gearbox fluid - replace crank bolt with one from DX engine (as suggested the other day by G-man) - replace petrol tank belts - fix a few rust spots - refurbish wheels - get speakers in both doors working! - fix rear calipers Sorry mate - you did ask!! That should keep me busy for the meantime... :)

mark28G60 0 Posted April 13, 2005 AND I'm supposed to be saving at the moment.... When you rob that bank can you pick me up some spending money please. Gotta love the noise of these G60's even if the wallet is always empty. Mark
_leon_ 0 Posted April 13, 2005 Gotta love the noise of these G60's even if the wallet is always empty. Exactly. My current exhaust is almost drowning out all the noise, but on listening to a video taken at the weekend, I could hear the whoooosh... love it! _leon_ 0 Posted November 30, 2005 well tons has been spent on this car since the last post. fixed: - all engine mounts - rustless! bodywork is now ALL good - horn - wheels all cleaned up - supercharger service - boost return removal (catch tank v v soon) - rsr - vw mats - new lights - supersprint exhaust with polyflex bungees (soo much better) - mk 4 rears - parcel shelf - bosch battery - supersprint 4 branch heatwrapped - fixed damn water leak! - 'unique' boost gauge setup - soon to be sorted into ash tray slot - several services - probably more... future: - eagle f1s - oil cooler - gauge/air+fuel guages - new locks - new sparks - posh catch tank - heater (yes the bugger is having a laugh) - cold air feed through brake duct - badgeless grill - several minor details - bonnet underside/rocker cover painted and foam replaced - new distributor and alternator - tune + check sensors, fuel pumps etc etc Its slowly coming along! When the final paintwork is sorted I'll throw up some pics. Whats better: 1) Once all this is done - fit a larger intercooler (want to retain OEM look not use a 3rd party bumper)? 2) or get porting done (std charger, TB, inlet, head - already have a supersprint 4 branch fitted)? I would prefer to get this lot done before I would chip and pulley... Opinions welcome :)
_leon_ 0 Posted December 2, 2005 my car, Joe M's, andycowuk's in the summer :) we have some nice roads up here!
_leon_ 0 Posted December 2, 2005 others... still needing up to date ones
_leon_ 0 Posted December 2, 2005 one thing I noticed now getting an airbox that someone hasn't drilled out holes in - with a k&n and the snorkel removed, the noise is deafening. would a std panel filter from VW cure this? And is decent enough to use? What else would be suggested?
