16v peak power point

Recommended Posts

for a while now i've wondered what rev's the power peaks at on my valver, it doesnt seem to really come alive until around the 4500/5000 mark and pulls well from there, but does anyone know roughtly where it'll be developing the most power and where I should be changing gears for the best possible results?

hmm, since i've not had as much engine work done i'd expect i'm looking at something slightly lower than that then? plus mines a 1.8 and doesnt have the same torque at the top end IIRC.

From memory, VW's quotes for the standard 1800 with 50mm manifold were - 124ft/lb @ 4100rpm and 139bhp @ 6,100rpm.

Drop those rpms a little with the 42mm manifold.

I always used to change at the redline with my valvers :)
