striker bolt removal

i have a new pair of striker bolts when you unscrew them completely does the nut at the back fall into the car? or is it captive?

Are you replacing them because the plastic sleeves have broken off mate?

 

How much where they? My sleeves are looking seriously tired after 110 thou!

There are some chromed ones on aBay for a tenner...

 

Am quite tempted but having a 4-dr means I have to spend twice as much! Oh, the suffering, etc, etc... :lol: But then I'd also have to get chrome lock mechs as well... 8)

yeah kev i got the ones off ebay when i sound deadened the doors i noticed it still clanged a a bit, so i traced it to the little plastic sleeves like you say are mullered after 100k+ look nice nickel plated instead of chrome so wont look chipped and nasty after a while!

I went to the $tealers today to order a couple of these stiker bolts - only about £2.70 each inc VAT.

or you could use some industrial heat shrink which'll replace the plastic sleve for about 20p... ;)
