VR6 auxillary belt tension idler/pulley

Recommended Posts

The aux pulley on the fan belt that runs the alternator etc is very noisy all of a sudden, on my new (150K Miles) VR6. is this an easy replacement? I've sprayed some oil on it and its quietened down a lot but I do want to change it, as I get a real whineing/wheezeing noise from it.

Where's the best (cheapest :) ) place to buy one and any idea what the part number is? Its a 1995 VR6.

Cheers

The whole tensioner is 021 145 299B but it will bust the bank at £100+

If it is the defo the bearing and your upto a bit of detail work, then go to an engineering suppliers shop or similar and buy for £10 the bearing only. Part number: Type 6203LH.

I think at this sort of mileage it might be an idea to replace the whole assembly anyway as the spring tension can weaken too, exhibited by the tensioner pulley flapping about at idle speed.
