Kevin Bacon 5 Posted June 3, 2005 That's pretty sh1tty of JustMatz to give it to someone else. Did you pay for it advance? I saw the JustMatz lot at Inters and didn't think much of them to be honest.....
anubis 0 Posted June 3, 2005 Did he make off with it ? Also, do they have a website for these covers, sounds nice?

Kevin Bacon 5 Posted June 3, 2005 Not very sporting but contractually within his rights as you hadn't paid for it. Buy it from somewhere else.

M15 VW 0 Posted June 3, 2005 I really dont know what happened. I was told to call them about 20mins before i get there so i did. The guy i was dealing with said bad news........someone came down and spoke to the other guy about the engine cover, begged him for it, he kept saying it was taken but the guy said he needed it for the show this weekend so i guess he gave in. What if my rado was actually on the road and i wanted it for the show hey??

Jim 2 Posted June 3, 2005 Lame. Very very lame.
ZippyVR6 0 Posted June 3, 2005 sod them off and go somewhere else. That is a lame excuse. Plenty of people who will read this link and not go there as a result. :D
G60Dan 0 Posted June 3, 2005 I'd be telling them were they can stick their engine cover about now. Other people will make them 2, just go somewhere else.
Phil K 0 Posted June 3, 2005 Thats unlucky! Do Trimsport do one? Had a look on their site and it doesn't seem to be on there but it's prob worth giving them a call as I'm sure they will be able to do it or know someone that can 8)
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted June 3, 2005 Looking at the JustMatz VR6 cover kit, you can make one yourself easily enough. That's about £20 worth of stainless that is.....just shaped accordingly.
corradostorm 0 Posted June 3, 2005 Justmatz aren't that bad. They sold quite a few of us those Corrado Key Rings. I agree it wasn't very fair to do that to a customer but I'm sure the same thing has happen to others with trimsport et al.
corradostorm 0 Posted June 3, 2005 Oh, and you'll be lucky to make a battery cover with £20 worth of SS :)
A20 LEE 0 Posted June 3, 2005 polish up your std manifold. Looks miles better than stick on tat.
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted June 3, 2005 Oh, and you'll be lucky to make a battery cover with £20 worth of SS :) Really? So how come Audioscape decked out an entire boot build with the stuff for about £50 then? You just need to know where to get it....
coolrado 0 Posted June 3, 2005 industrial scrap yards usually have loads of sheet stainless in, usually still with the protective film attached and you can get it pretty cheap from some places anyway its bending it without scratching or denting it which is the hard bit
corradostorm 0 Posted June 3, 2005 A stainless steel battery cover in high grade SS costs about £35 once its been cut and bent into shape. (And weights about 2 kg!) The VR covers are somewhat larger than that. If you can make one yourself, fair play. You'll be a better man than I. ;)
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted June 3, 2005 2Kg!! No wonder it's expensive, they're using heavy gauge plate! 2 bags of sugar in weight for a batt cover is a trifle excessive! You only need 1mm plate to make up engine covers. Stainless is heavier than mild but it's stronger, so you can afford to use thinner guage....which is why stainless exhausts boom. I personally couldn't be bothered to make them, but I know somewhere that could for less than £199+VAT!
daves16v 1 Posted June 3, 2005 I also know someone who could do it.............me 8) I ain't got a VR tho.
