MK4 VR6 Tensioner Pad

Recommended Posts

I'm in the middle of replacing my chains and have hit a snag

I've bought the new style mk4 polymer tensioner pad but when I fit it to its spindle the tensioner pad sits too far off the block, ie only half the pad area overlaps the chain. Do I need therfore a different spindle for this style pad?

The part I have used is 066109509A, does this seem right?

That part number isn't right, I can't remember the full number (2CC has the details) but the last bit of it is 109 E

Something is wrong as the MK4 tensioner pad is the same width as the old one.

Looks like I have the wrong part then! Mine has a guide rail as part of the tensioner pad, ie there is a perpendicular strip along the length of the pad which doubles as a guide. Can anyone confirm that the correct tensioner pad has a comletely flat surface like the original fit pad? Will try to get photos up later. Cheers all.

Yep, pretty sure it does, the only differnce I remember was that it was one single material compared to the original... the one you've got is for the V5 4motion engine.

Cheers everybody, sorted now, I have a 4Motion one it would seem.

Supercharged, shouldn't that be V6 4Motion, not V5?

I'm pretty sure they are the same for the V5 and VR. You find it to be a fairly tight fit though mate. I checked it loads of times when i did my mates Golf.
