Kevin Bacon 5 Posted February 16, 2009 Good stuff Shaun. Worth waiting for that Gemini, that coated end cover looks the dogs :notworthy: I think 4 pots will finish yours off nicely, then take a spending break and just enjoy it :D
The_Dude 0 Posted February 16, 2009 Mmm sounds like a sweet bit of kit you've got yourself there mate. What's involved in getting a 6 speed up and running once you have the gears?
StormchargedVR6 0 Posted February 16, 2009 Good stuff Shaun. Worth waiting for that Gemini, that coated end cover looks the dogs :notworthy: I think 4 pots will finish yours off nicely, then take a spending break and just enjoy it :D Its looking good, i did want the end case polished but it did'nt come up that well. Im well made up with the finish, looks even better in flesh 8) By the way Kev, JKM are making the brass bushs for the selecter forks if you need them :) Got these alloy bushs for the cable bracket 2.8l 24v Climatronic system.pdfIMG_2039.jpg[/attachment:det6r0jd] Also short shift bracket ( side to side) JKM do one for the throw has well 8) Short shift bracket.jpg[/attachment:det6r0jd] 4 pots are next mate, then start saving for Phase 2 of VRT
StormchargedVR6 0 Posted February 16, 2009 Mmm sounds like a sweet bit of kit you've got yourself there mate. What's involved in getting a 6 speed up and running once you have the gears? I bought a spare box and sent it off to JKM to be rebuilt with the kit & diff and what ever bearings it needed. I think its best way to do it, then you got a spare when it goes BANG

Good to know they're making the brass selector bushes! I think those rubber bushes take some vibration out of the gearstick, how do the alloy ones feel? Should make the shift feel a bit more positive though. That looks like the Gruven parts shift? I'm doing it differently, MK4 02M shift tower, cables and stick etc. Short throw as standard :D Phase 2? LOL! What are you up to!!?

It is a Gruven part, thought remove all the weak parts, plus using the crack pipe 8) JKM going to make the short shift for the throw, did'nt know about the 02M tower Phase 2 // Pistons /head/driveshafts / BOOST

20vturbo 0 Posted February 19, 2009 what type of box was that origionally, 02j? a cheap and easy way to get 6 gears is use a 02s, just use a o2j bell housing and lsd then you can use the cable drive speedo. goes straight in without and other modifications.
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted February 19, 2009 O2A The O2S isn't as strong. The Gemini whilst not bomb proof like the O2M, is much stronger than any of the As, Js and Ss.

These are a far stronger offering than standard, with bigger teeth, closer ratios - and being in the 3rd to 6th range, these are ideal for any motorsport or trackday use, since those are the gears you use once moving. They of course come with the very identifiable 6th gear end casing, and VW Motorsport logo: 6-speed sprint kit 3rd - 1.5:1 (18/27) 4th - 1.2 (20/24) 5th - 0.95:1 (23/22) 6th - 0.84:1 (25/21)
