Hello

Recommended Posts

Just registered and thought i'd say hello.

Currently have a mk3 golf 16v, but i've been offered a corrado 16v that needs a bit of work done, new steering rack, wing and a fuel regulator.

is it a big job to replace the rack?

Er, yes and no. You need to support the engine and unbolt the rear of the subframe.

The rack should then come out towards the back of the car IIRC.

fellow R1 rider!!! nice :)

Looks like i might go through with buying this car, its a 1990 16v with 70 odd thousand on the clock and full leather interior. It was spun at night and done a little bit of damage, most has been done except a few little bits now

Everyone knows that the R1 and Corrado compliment each other perfectly. Well, that's the way I see it anyway! The R1 is everything the Corrado isn't, and vice versa.....i.e. the R1 is fast and the Corrado keeps me dry.

R1-Jay, Welcome to the forum ..

Steering rack is a complete pain in the arse to do - pay someone else to do it.

Welcome to The Forum R1-Jay, I'm with Steve on the rack being a pain to do... I'm lucky in that there's no engine in the bay to get in my way, but otherwise it looks like a real sod to change... :|

the garage are going to do the rack, fuel filler reservior, CV joint and basic prep for £100

should get the car hopefully next week and then keep it on the parking space whilst i sort it all out, clean it, fit stereo etc

think it will need a drivers wing and headlight lens now. are the wings bolt on only? or do they need welding on aswell?

bolts mate...but they can be a bugga to remove..VW liked to use quite a bit of underseal...you'l have to scrape the stuff off to get at the bolt heads.
