Neil VR6 0 Posted September 15, 2005 The Escort looks mint. It looks well thought out, subtle and not chavvy at all. I bet Fords parts are cheaper than VW parts too!
Claret Badger 0 Posted September 15, 2005 fords are two a penny and that is another deciding factor
Neil VR6 0 Posted September 15, 2005 Fords like this aren't. Properly modified RS's are extremely rare and a 60 mile search on Autotrader only relevealed 10 RS Turbo's, including ropey ones! :)
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted September 15, 2005 Some Ford parts are cheaper than VW ones and vice versa..... but VW dashboards don't crack and fall to pieces like Escort ones did though. H8RRA, I don't think my reply is enough to start laying down some new laws, I was only messing about anyway! Some people are so edgey! Chris is Chris and has certain 'freedoms' cause he's mates with most of the mods, LOL! .
Kevin Bacon 5 Posted September 15, 2005 RSs of that standard aren't that rare.... there's an Escort RS van (even rarer) done to the same standard (same wheels, brakes and engine mods) currently sat in Audioscape's garage.
Claret Badger 0 Posted September 15, 2005 you could say that about any "mass produced" sporting car from the 80/90's to be honest when did you last see a sweet std XR4?
Neil VR6 0 Posted September 15, 2005 I don't recall. I saw a mint Sierra RS500 at the 'Pod the other day though. The only point I was trying to make was that on your daily drive to work you seldom see an RST and you even more seldom see a nice RST. I thought the matey who owns this car is getting a bit of a slating for having what is quite a nice motor into which has been poured a lot of money and love. We all love cars, not just VW's. :)

Neil VR6 0 Posted September 15, 2005 I've always had a bit of a soft spot for fast Fords. S'pose it was the Escort Cossie with its massive spoiler wow'd me when I was younger. Also I liked the black Texaco Sierra's that competed in the BTCC back when it was fun. I even had a Sierra body shell decked out in Texaco livery on my old RC car! Kevin Bacon 5 Posted September 15, 2005 You'd never have guessed! We generally only see you when you're sticking up for something...or someone  Escort Cossie Lux without the the chest wig era boot spoiler, yep, cool car. I have a scalextric set with a bunch of cars, 1 of which is finished in said Texaco livery.
Neil VR6 0 Posted September 15, 2005 I keep my head down a bit these days; using the forum more as a resource, looking at old posts, using search and finding stuff out about my own car and its problems (of which there are many which seem to rear their ugly heads in strict rotation just when I think I've fixed them). VR6 220 0 Posted September 18, 2005 Fords like this aren't. Properly modified RS's are extremely rare and a 60 mile search on Autotrader only relevealed 10 RS Turbo's, including ropey ones! :) Thankyou mate, haven't been on here in a while but my mate (who brought my VR) told me there were a few more pages of replies! In all fairness I just said the rado was sold and I had a few comments against my choice of car. I bet every1 who has something bad to say about my car has either 1. Never even drivin an RS 2. Not got a clue what they are actually on about OK I agree there is alot of rubbish RS about 95% but I've spent a long time looking for the right one. Not all the corrados on the road are mint anymore either. Thankyou for every1 who has stuck up for me, it proves not every1 on this forum are narrow minded gimps. One other thing my corrado was MINT with a very, very nice spec and I choose to go back to a ford so it can't be that bad. Plus any1 that says my car is chav can say it to my fuckin face instead of behind a computer screen  This is my last post..........enjoy the motor mike and watch out for the batty boys that ONLY LIKE YOU IF YOU DRIVE A RADO (wanna be in my gang?)
Jim 2 Posted September 18, 2005 Hey.. news flash for you.. its a Corrado forum mate, not a Ford forum. We're car enthusiasts here and we appreciate good models from other brands, but its pretty freakin obvious we're going to be slightly more bias to the Corrado isn't it! We can't usually show our heads on other forums without being told how crap the Corrado is, how a Calibra 16v saw off a Corrado VR6 or sommat.. so i'd say we're pretty darn tolerant and open minded around here. StormVR6 0 Posted September 18, 2005 Hear, hear, thank you Jim, wise words indeed.
StormVR6 0 Posted September 26, 2005 EVERYTHING is better than the rado! LOL, yeah apart from the interior (which is worse than my wifes' 96 Ibiza), the baked bean tin exterior, the cabin noise at speed (due to previous 2), the rattley old lump under the bonnet, and the dated look, which IMO just looks naff. And before you start going off on one asking if I've driven one, yes, I've driven more cars than you've had hot dinners, ranging all the way up to 100+K motors, and in my view the Corrado can hold it's own (in some way or another) to any of the cars I've had the pleasure in driving. Something you can't say about the Escort, I'm sorry but the Corrado is altogether in a different league. Just as you are well within your rights to have your opinions, I am also. I thank you. Rejuvenated, less grumpy (employment has returned!) C owner.
Dredgey 0 Posted April 4, 2006 The Corrado actually went to a mate so I'll get him to sign up to this forum-he's really lovin it! - I bet he is- he got a genuinely rare car for bargain basment money - who wouldn't be loving it knowing they've got something that simply refuses to depreciate! I think Lee has put it in a nut shell - you can make any car go faster than a standard rado for £5k! Comparison upon comparison (and having seen the 'scort pictures) they both look like immaculately kept cars but the RS will surely loose more money than the C? And simply hasn't held onto its looks over the past 10 years or so? The RS is also a car created from a small family hatch where as the Corrado was intended to be sports coupe from the start, surely the engineering within the Corrado puts most Escorts to shame doesn't it? At the end of the day yeah, drive what YOU want to drive.... but I can't help but feel it was a step down... the only Escort i'd consider is a mk1 or a mexico or something!
iow_corrado_g60 0 Posted April 4, 2006 only escort id consider is a cossie brmm brmm!
Dredgey 0 Posted April 4, 2006 oh ok, and maybe an escort cossie.... AS WELL AS the corrado though! I can't ever see me parting with my C, I'd buy an additional car sure, but I plan to keep my VR until I'm old and senile! Anyway enough of the Ford debate, matey with the RS has told us 'narrow minded gimps' that he's left his last thread... probaly gone back to the Trev, sorry, Escort RS forum with his tail between his legs. So would I if I'd let that Corrado go for that silly amount!

swindon-corrado 0 Posted April 11, 2006 I used to own RS fords. MK2 escorts etc. Couple of RS Turbo's. But the RS has become more of a Chav thing these days? And was really an eighties must have. Wish I had bought VW when I was younger rather than the Fords as the scene is way better. Now I have a Corrado there is no way on Earth I would consider an RS ever again. If it's not the power the styling is far far better and VW are the world leaders in Styling. Don't get me wrong I am not being bitchy but I know the RS scene and the VW one and am able to compare. However taste does change with age when you want finer things in life ... Hence a Corrado VR6
Dredgey 0 Posted April 11, 2006 ...the most non-biased person in this debate! Experience in both maunfacturer's and its official, VW is better than Ford! I do still like the mk1 etc. but its a different kettle of fish to a Corrado...
VR6 220 0 Posted July 10, 2006 Only just seen all the replies! Cheers for all the comments every1, the RS is now sold! I just had a read through all the posts and I'm sorry but I sounded a cunt in most of it. The mate I sold the car to has now infact sold it on as it wasn't for him either. I think to be honest it was the fact it was an auto that spoiled the fun. Anyway just wanted to clear the air! Cheers all.
