I did laugh at myself afterwards that's why i posted it..

I've got Cooler today and it looks good for the money and just waiting on pipework now.

But to another problem,i went to the hassle of fitting the ISV to my manifold by drilling a good size hole and mounting a elbow(and the rags! lol),all looks good but it don't work :|

When you first start up it idles normal for 5-10 seconds then the ISV flutters and opens up so much that it drowns the engine with to much air.

I've checked wiring and tried different ISV with no results.

Do you think the short manifold is to blame as were the ISV had to open up to supply enough air for the long stock manifold as is might be to much for the SP?

I'm out of ideas, and have adjusted my throttle stop and blanked ISV to have a normal idle and it idles fine, just wanted ISV for cold starting and stalling issues.

any help....cos im out

I'm going to leave the ISV in place for now but blanked off until i can get down to Vince and see what he can do,if no joy i will delete it.

Here is the state of play with mine, lots of chopping and hacking ect....but its looking and fitting well.

Just a bit peed off as my hoses for the pipework ore delayed as im wanting black !

Thanks for the reply's,its been hard work and be prepared to cut allot out to Fit but it should be worth it 8)

Few more pick's with lower grill fitted and temporary mesh grill,I'm after the honey comb type on seats ect,but cant find along enough piece.

Not sure on the number plate............. :?

Campbell0240 the charger will get hot as its bolted to the engine as you said has hot oil passing thought it and it is compressing air.

Once your on the move it will cool down, the VR's are a very hot engine most of the time that's why an oil cooler and intercooler is the way to go.

As for cams most run 268 and supposed to increase mid range.?

If you are running stage two set up with red injectors you will have a MAF clamp with your kit which stops the MAF having a fit when the charger draws more air past then it can handle, think the clamp limits the peak voltage at 5volts?

So Vince removes the MAF as its a pain.

Have fun

My attempt at 12psi. It wasn't a great setup tbh. It made the numbers (over 320hp) but the plot wasn't nice and it was peaky on the road. I gave up on S/Cs at this point.

Kev a friend of mine is building a turbo engine with approx 450 bhp with plans for twin turbos and 500 plus. There is a thread on Edition 38.

http://www.edition38.com/forums/index.p ... hl=dan-ish

I was looking at his intercooler and radiator with slim fan set up and was very impressed, IIRC he was of the opinion it would go on a Corrado without much trouble, would this work for you?

The amount of charged VRs on here you could go for a GB on these.

and im almost finished my install !!!

Fitting a FMIC is by no means a walk in the park but neither is getting a cooler and rad made up to suit.

You will still need to modify allot to get the pipes to where you want to go and having a custom cooler is good but is just as time consuming.

Im adding pictures as i go along to give people an idea what to do and improve on it,everything I've done is on a very tight budget so can be done by anyone. and might not seem so daunting after reading this thread

Here is a few more pictures..

What is the small one going to be?.........

Kev Have you got more info on your Sytec pump? who supplies them and is it a direct replacment for your stock one?

James, good news on the belt slip mate. I might try that, although my I've done what H8RRA did and ran the alternator in reverse for more belt wrap, no slippage yet. I might end up going with a tiny pulley like you and stick with the G60 cooler, or one made by Forge with a higher flow rate.

I've wrapped belt around the pulley like Paul has but am adding another pulley aswell to help,it will be an easy Mod and will tell you what and how when i get a chance.

Been finishing off the cooling for the FMIC and had it running for the first time in along time! Wow  The whistle form the charger and the air dumping off sounds lush !!

quick rev to 4k has seen over 10psi !!

Its a nice set up,but its just as much hassle as fitting a FMIC,Don't think you will get away without chopping or drilling holes for pipework ect .

Its more plumbing more weight, there are pros and cons.

Here is the idler set up that ive been working on.

I got to test drive 2 supercharged VR6's over the last 2 weeks.

1 a 95 corrado with Stage1 and Giac chip

2 a 97 Golf with stage2 and Vinces custom map (VR6Boys VR)

Talk about a difference!!! Corrado seems to make no boost and idles poors and cuts out at randomly.

Golf is a total rocket!!! and smooth as fup! Well impressed with the car. Hope to get to Vince within the next 6 weeks now!

Ahhhh davebirl glad you liked it, so that will be 3 charged vr6s in ireland then LOL (well atleast that we know of so far)

just a quick pic for you :p

Wuhooooooo, at last i'm guilty as charged :D:

Fitted a VF9 Stg2 kit 3 weeks ago (took me 18hrs   ), then drove like an old women running it in for 400 miles.

Up to Stealth on Friday for Vince to map it, then on to E38, but hardly tickled it really. But on the way home yesturday I barely came off the loud pedal and, well spank my trousers its awsome.

You lot play it down i think, I was in no way prepared for that kind of acceleration. Went out again just now and im still shaking! Just unbeleivable, feels like its going to take off in 4th at 6k, and 2nd is just plain savage. I LOVE IT

Big thanks to Vince at Stealth for a perfectly behaved map which has literaly not missed a beat in all kinds of driving scenarios and is super smooth! Kev for badgering me into getting one sourcing one and all the advice and not least Karl (KadVR6), for giving me a sump and lots of other bits when you didnt know me from adam, thanks mate.

I am however now endowed with such a huge credit card i cant afford to drive the thing!

All charged up, and very happy, only made 281.4 @6014, but the torque was better 250@3700 and 260@5168 because of the VGI, Vince said he wanted to run it safe, as the charger was just out the box ,and the low mileage of my engine, he said it will get better and should make 290-295.

The sound is Awesome, got to say its was a very nice drive home :)

Got to say anyone going to stealth, ask john for a ride in his car. What a animal of a car, that is one fast car

But wouldn't you love to see this up behind you in your rear view mirror rather than been tucked away..

What ever cooler you lot get made up is not without its problems of plumbing in without cutting ect or excessive piping and pressure drop when it comes to the chargers, but i would like to see the results.

Hi guys, here goes the first of my questions with the install of this EIP turbo kit,

First of all i have trial fitted the turbo and ancillaries to the manifold which wasnt hard @ all but then i tried to fit the complete item to the car and there was no way i could get it in so i built it up one part @ time on the car which is where ive hit my first problem, the kit isnt going to work with a RHD car ! the compressor on the turbo is fouling on the steering column by a good 2 inches or so, ive left only one bolt holding the turbo to the manifold so i can twist it to get on the car but it looks like an awful lot of work is going to be needed to get it fit, it looks as though i may have to modify the bulkhead as well as there doesnt seem to be enough clearance there either ! Ive took some foto's below so you can see what i mean. To me it looks like the car will have to go to an exhaust specialist to have a custom downpipe and manifold made which is a bit of a pi$$er as i asked if the kit was for a RHD car before i bought it and it was supposed to be, if anyone has any other ideas it would be appreciated.

Also im a long way off this @ the minute but i can only see one place on the turbo unit for an oil entry/oil exit point, obviously there will need to be both !! any ideas on that as well ???

Cheers Jimmi..............................

Running n/a with the Schimmel log prior to going turbo. It wasn't bad actually!! Nice and revvy with no noticable reduction in bottom end torque.

Cheers for that kev, the oil feed is simple enough to connect then i can copy the parts from the vortech kit abut make the oil intake longer and the oil return shorter !!

I have had a bit more mess about this morning and i have had the turbo fully piped up both exhaust and inlet and im 100% happy with the fit, i have removed everything now so i can get the manifold modded to suit, i have taken a foto below, this is exactly where the turbo needs to be sitting on the manifold but as you can see they dont match up, the flange needs to be sitting 50mm further back. The intake for the turbo is offset rather than central which is the reason ive had the problems with space. i need to have the manifold adapted now so it lines up.

But i think that should be a rather straight forward job and i dont think it will slow the install down too far.

Cheers..........Jimmi..............

Got all my turbo bits now. Schimmel's chargecooler is absolutely stunning and comes with the biggest water pump I've ever seen! It's in my lock up so no pics at the moment, but I do have a pick of my nice new turbo.

1 x Garrett GT3071R. Yum :-) Good old Schimmel sent me the very latest version of the GT30R, which spools up 1000rpm sooner than old one, nice one

Nice roller bearing construction. You only have to blow on the turbine and it spins...... this thing is going to boost at 2000rpm.....can't wait 8)

Coxy, your old KKK04 is slightly smaller than the far right one :-)

all this talk of turbo charging a vr6 is really doing my head in, i really like my charger :) but would like some more power, so gonna see how ya get on kev, then i think sometime next year i may be going down the turbo route, i have found a guy in the uk that can supply the turbo manifolds £250 delivered, which i think is a good price ?? it has a T3 flange on it also.
