Cougar 0 Posted September 1, 2005 Probably been posted but it's a helpful trick. I had the tensioner spring/shock off the stud to change the serpentine belt and couldn't compress it enough to get it back on. I finally used a caulking gun (for dispensing caulk from a tube). One end fits nicely over the bottom of the shock and with each click on the trigger the shaft compressed the spring sufficiently to get it back on the stud easily. Great trick! Critical_Mass 10 Posted September 2, 2005 DAMN could have done with that little trick 3 weeks ago, ended up getting the tensioner back on but snapped half the thread in the process and had to replace that.
