gsbellew 0 Posted October 7, 2005 Probably in the wrong section, so mods feel free to move. My G60 has a JMR sticker on it from a rebuild in the past, just wondering if there is anyway to identify what stage( if thye do stages) the rebuild was done to like the serial number Jabba put on theirs? Do JMR have a good reputation for charger rebuilds? :?
Henny 0 Posted October 7, 2005 send a PM to 16vg60 as he is JMR... ;)

markmcie 0 Posted October 7, 2005 Just got my charger back from JMR Geroid. He actually worked on it over the weekend for me so he could ship it back ASAP. Nice guy and the car is absolutely flying now. He did some extra porting for me aswell because despite my charger being stage 4 when I bought the car it there was a very minimal job done on it. My charger has a stamp in the casing "JMR STG4" no sticker thou. There is a pic of a charger I saw on the forum today with a JMR sticker and also the stamp on it. Cant find it now though. Sure PM him (he dosent not be online that often) and give him the reg of the car and he should have all the details. I have his number here if you need it too. He has done some work for GaryC aswell. A manifold for his 16vG60 as far as I know.

stevemac 0 Posted October 8, 2005 Do JMR have a good reputation for charger rebuilds? :?Mine started blowing oil within 180 miles, had to get the thing rebuilt again (elsewhere - at my expense) AFAIK - mine may have been a one-off, he generally seems to have a good reputation. JT 0 Posted October 8, 2005 mine has a stage 4 jmr rebuild but.... when i had my chip and pulley done with darren he had a nightmare getting the oe pulley off  which should'nt happen!!! and once it was off there was deffinately a small leak from around the seal behind the pulley nothing to really worry about but will still need attention sooner rather than later and that was 7 thoudand miles from rebuild... kevin 0 Posted October 9, 2005 been dealing with john at jmr for some time ,never had any problems of any kind, great service and his knowledge about g60's is second to none.top bloke in my eyes and always willing to help you out when you get stuck. thats my 2 pence worth regards kevin
Andy665 0 Posted October 9, 2005 Never had any problems either and I'm sure that anyone who has had problems subsequent to having had work done would be sorted out as a priority - for him to be able to sort a problem out he first needs to be made aware of it As a measure of my confidence in his work I just give him a blank signed cheque whenever I drop my car off - have dealt with lots of specialists and never felt that comfortable before. Supercharged 2 Posted October 10, 2005 As a measure of my confidence in his work I just give him a blank signed cheque whenever I drop my car off - have dealt with lots of specialists and never felt that comfortable before. Andy665 0 Posted October 11, 2005 No - its called trust
Neil VR6 0 Posted October 11, 2005 I've spent over £2000 with John and can't fault any of his workmanship and he'll always make time if you've got a problem. After recent problems when using another more local garage I won't let anyone else near my Corrado.
Jim 2 Posted October 11, 2005 Look at it the other way Steve.. to be honest i'd give Stealth a blank cheque (provided I had the money in my account) because I trust them implicitly. I guess if JMR have gained the same kind of trust with their regular customers, then thats fair enough :)
Supercharged 2 Posted October 11, 2005 to be honest i'd give Stealth a blank cheque (provided I had the money in my account) Thats a contradiction in terms.. as you don't know the amount... I'm sorry but giving anyone a blank check is just plain stupid, and also leave you open to fraud etc..
Andy665 0 Posted October 12, 2005 Clearly one persons stupid is another mans trust
Walesy 0 Posted October 12, 2005 I'm sorry but giving anyone a blank check is just plain stupid, and also leave you open to fraud etc.. I'd say that it is pretty pointless too..why not just write a cheque out for the full ammount when you collect your car? :?
Jim 2 Posted October 12, 2005 I think the point I was trying to at least backup by Andy was the trust thing. I would trust Stealth with a blank cheque but in practice my account is never in credit enough to risk something like that, nor is it the sort of thing I would make a habit of :)
Supercharged 2 Posted October 12, 2005 but in practice my account is never in credit enough to risk something like that, nor is it the sort of thing I would make a habit of Well then - what are you on about man! I'd say that it is pretty pointless too..why not just write a cheque out for the full ammount when you collect your car? Exactly!
john_wintle 0 Posted October 12, 2005 What he is on about is the fact that they are both trusted with doing any work that they deem is required on the car, no more than that. If they think is needs doing, then it probably should be done, if they don't, well leave it alone. Trust, that the job will be done properly, without anything unnecessary being charged for. woody 0 Posted October 13, 2005 At the end of the day I would not trust my C to anyone else, John has made my car into what is it today from a very tired negelcted G60. Whenever i have had a problem he has enabled me to get round it or in the one last winter when a pulley bolt snapped off in the bracket, john came down on a sunday who 2 hours notice, 150 mile round trip and fixed it for me 5 hours labour and did not charge me a penny including travel. There are not many specialists who would do that. Just my 2 pennies worth.
