Recommended Posts

i've got a 1.8 16v 1990 model.which size manifold would if have come with 42mm or 50mm.am i right that the 50mm was on the 2 litre?

also what difference would it make if ig to put a 50mm on if mine is a 42mm?

42mm came standard on all corrados,50mm on golf 16vs.

IMO avoid the 50mm as it makes your car sluggish till 5k.

Ive tried every option and my car feels the most livliest with the very early golf 16v 41mm manifold with longer runners!

VW used the smaller diameter inlets to boost torque as the corrado is heavier than the golf

I got told that my 89 valver has got a 40mm inlet on it, its the one with a cast design on one of the flutes

I personally thought that they only made the 42mm and 50mm??

use the 42mm and get the lower half polished and port matched to the head 8)

that works great on the 2.0 also, will give plenty of flow on all but the wildest head and cams without low end suffering.

David.

I'll prove this again on friday, Stealth tune up :D
