DrForinor, Cheers mate :-)

Sorry, but I am going to have to disagree on the Integ DC5 as a daily driver comment you made I'm afraid. If you ever get the oppurtunity to drive a DC5, you will love it. It really is a 'connected' car. You've already gone round the corner before you even think about going round it, it's reponses to your inputs are almost telepathic. It's a fabulous machine. Drop any prejudices you may have about the Civic, the Integ is in a different league althogether.

As I said previously, it's not night/day better than my own C's chassis (cause I have well over a grand in it), but if push came to shove on a track, it would show up the C's ancient chassis, without a shadow of a doubt. Both the integ and Civic have a super rigid chassis aswell, one the C hasn't a hope in hell of competing with. There's barely any shell flex at all. The C has loads.

The gearing is nice and short and it pulls well from low revs. The VTEC shove I find isn't half as strong as reputation would have you believe, but it's rapid all the same. My only real criticsm is the lack of refinement, the engine is noisy and quite coarse at the top end.

I'd own one no problem, but it would have to be forced induction tho ;-)

That was what I mean by it not being an easy daily driver, but as soon as I do get the chance, I will definitely drive the Teg :thumb right:

Ok then, my question to you is this, pick one, a standard C VR6 (not your one with the extra money spent on it) or a standard Teg. I'm assuming you will go for the Teg 'cos of it's abilities over and above the standard C?

I see your point mate. However, in terms of drivability, it's an easy daily driver. The clutch is light, the steering is light and full of feedback, it picks up well in the lower gears and it's very reliable. You can find yourself in the wrong gear at times though, and Clarkson's demo of the 1.7 mile thing in the EVO FQ 400 to catch up with a FIAT 1.6 in 6th springs to mind

If I had £15K for 2 year old DC5 spare, then I'd easily choose that over a standard VR. I don't have that sort of money floating about, so I'd choose the VR. But I wouldn't view that choice as second best though

, it's just that a standard VR for £5k (for a good un) is not that far off the Integ's pace to justify the extra £10K and the C looks a lot better imo and is a Bentley by comparison in terms of refinement.

Puma Racing - running costs comparable to a Rado too - very rare, gorgeous looking, probably the best fwd chassis of all time (especially with the LSD option)

350Z is RWD tho, so that rules it out more then other models IMO.

I would defo say more along the lines of an Integra R/Focus RS/Leon R/Clio V6

but then again the clio V6 is also RWD and its also mid engined so that would be out on 2 counts................i think dr forinor was more asking about a car in the same mould as the corrado not the same drivetrain etc

nah, sorry but even a racing Puma won't outhandle a DC5 Integra, which is hailed as THE best handling FWD car of all time.

I would buy one but don't really think they are worth the money TBH, even second hand there are just too much competition for it, and it ain't the most tuneable car either.

Without question, this...out December...

oooh.... i've came over all faint at the look of that.... stunning looks and if it drives like the majority of the other Alfas it'll be a definate winner..... i want one.....

i agree with those that like the 350z, i've driven one before and after a supercharger was fitted to it and apart from the traction contol kicking in it was fun... IMO they look great and drive well...

still cant think of anything that makes u grin like an idiot as much as a Rado can tho... (when they work  )

I think the Focus RS was a lousy attempt at the rebirth of the RS brand especially seeing it get annialated by the Cossie on the TG 'old verses new' feature!! It should have been 4WD for starters!....but they've got rarity on their side.

The Integra type R would be a good choice if you were happy with the colour! would you want a white one?....or a white one?!

It seems the 350Z is the winner so far (despite being RWD).....

I dunno mate, the Puma Racing is what the Puma should have been from the factory.....and if you've ever driven a normal 1700 Puma, you'll appreciate it's handling. The Racing has bigger and wider wheels, stiffer suspension, flared arches and a higher revving, tweaked motor. They do handle, but like the Focus ST 170, they do need stoking to get the best out of them. I'd take the Integ over the Puma R though and as Ariel have shown with the Atom, you can supercharge that 2.0 VTEC to good effect.

You can get Integs in black aswell 8)

RS Focus - lousy? I think not! It's faster than a bug eye STI round a track and a standard old school cossie certainly isn't. I wouldn't take what TG say as read. For a proper appraisal, read Evo magazine.

having said that, the new Focus ST (5 cyl turbo) is a lot quicker round the Nurburgring than the RS.....so it's even better!

they'll be on to a winner too if it sounds anything like an UR-quattro..........which it should sound like with 5cyls 8) 8) 8)

Well apparently it does have a quattroesque warble to it, but looks wise, it sucks. The RS is a lot better looking imo!

aargh.........all Focii are sheet in the looks dept IMHO....give me the Escort Cossie anyday for looks

ach, the best cossie was the RS500, but we all know that... ;)

i don't really know what the modern equivalent of the Rado is - i wouldn't say the Focus RS as you can buy a standard Focus, the 350Z i seem to actually see quite a lot of, so maybe the Integra Type-R...?

but then the Brera beats them all on looks so i'd have to go with that!

Kev, with all this praise for the Teg (and rightly so!) seems like you want one...

I'd love a DC5, but I tend to agree with samm_cvr6 about the price.

Brera looks superb, and don't forget the GTV.

Doesn't anyone else rate the Vauxhall Monaro? The Top Gear guys love 'em. Have only sat in one myself, but think they look great and that engine + rear wheel drive must be awesome.

I would like one yeah but they're too expensive :-(

I just think it's a lovely looking car, very well made, understated, quick and limpet like mechanical grip. The one I drove was imported for £18K and was 2 years old. Too expensive!

Yeah I like the Monaro, not overly keen on the looks but the big engine grunt and sorted chassis are what make it. Some tuning company has already addressed the lethargic gearchange and it transforms the car apparently. Good value for money too.

And another car I checked out recently was a Chrysler C300 Hemi. It was at Audioscape being kitted out. It was blinged up with 22" rims, finished in black with blacked out windows. It was mega pimped but I think it looks superb in black, nice looking car and again, huge grunt for around £25K, not to mention fully loaded. It doesn't drive like an Amercian barge either, it actually handles and soaks up bumps very well.....

My votes with the 350Z- cracking car-

I wouldn't allow the DC5 since import only (although allegedly also a cracking car - I've never been in one so i only have hearsey to go on)
