Bally 0 Posted August 8, 2003 cheers for all the replies, gives me an idea of what to expect to see mileage wise when I go and see some motors.. can't beleive stevemac, you got a showroom motor... :D
Linus Van Pelt 0 Posted August 8, 2003 I think there's no problem with buying a high mileage example, as long as you have proof that it's been maintained properly. I got caught out when I bought mine, new to cars in general (didn't have my expert friend with me ), fell in love with C and didn't do as much homework as I should have done (wish I'd found the groups before I bought it! ) kind of a very expensive impulse buy Anyway, bought mine about two years ago with 89K on the clock. FSH and obviously an ex-company car with motorway mileage & main dealer servicing. However, the exhaust, cat, supspension, brakes (discs) etc. were still all the original ones  mostly all corroded due to wear & age (it took AmD several hours to get the old exhaust off and the suspension was a biotch too!) I've had all the aforementioned bits replaced now, so my C shoud be good for another 100k :crossedfingers: without too much more effort, but it's worth bearing in mind if you do find a higher mileage example... I sure wish my head had stopped my heart for a second longer and I might have at least negotiated more on the price... (I still would have bought it though) Now on 113,500 ish, but doing silly miles commuting... watch out Andi, two years and I catch you up m8! DtM. Bally 0 Posted August 8, 2003 Cheers for the reply mate, alot of peeps have said the same, as long as theres history with the car, it should be fine.. Things is, like you, I do alot of business miles, and am a lover of modded cars, my current car was on 49k when I bought it last june 02, its now showing 78k, but has been maintained regradless of cost! so I need something with low mileage which I can clock a few miles up in and still mod it! see what happens hey :D
