conleycrew3 0 Posted October 18, 2005 hi all, i have a 95 2.0 16v rad' this had silver 16v badges to begin with but some chav stole the rear one. i replaced both front and rear badges with red ones, in my opinion it looks better. what i would like to know is, why are some 16v badges red and some silver? cheers ben
chrishill 0 Posted October 18, 2005 I beleive its down to the early and late valvers. The 1.8's had red badges and the later 2.0's had silver.
conleycrew3 0 Posted October 18, 2005 bugg*r! arnt 2.0's as quick (as slow as) 1.8's?
saysomestuff 0 Posted October 18, 2005 depends if the cat is still on there
chrishill 0 Posted October 18, 2005 in stock form they're about the same although the 2.0 has more torque, VW upped the CC to compensate for the losses through the addition of a cat, however a cat bypass pipe could well free up a large chunk of power for you. -edit- when I say large, I'm talking 10bhp or so... conleycrew3 0 Posted October 18, 2005 thats a reasonable amount just for by passin the cat, id have had that done but im selling up for a VR6. shame i hadnt found this forum sooner! does a standard corrado sell better than a modded one?
chrishill 0 Posted October 18, 2005 seems to for some reason, i suppose it depends on whos buying it! fancy a silver VR mate? ;) ;)

chrishill 0 Posted October 18, 2005 http://the-corrado.net/.archive/forum/viewtopic.php?t=22447&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=0 K plate, about 130k miles, runs perfectly and is getting MOT'd this coming weekend then taxed for 6 months at the end of this month. Looking for 3k for it with a set of bk299's rather than the RH's which I want to sell seperatly.
conleycrew3 0 Posted October 18, 2005 if i can sell mine i would have it mate. fancy a swop?
chrishill 0 Posted October 18, 2005 ;) worth a try but no thanks mate, I'm after a family-waggon (passat or a4) due to impending offspring! I'm not serisouly pushing for a sale just yet, theres probably a good 6 months before I start hammering autotrader and properly trying to shift it, but give me a shout if you sell yours, I'd much rather it went to a enthusiast and forum member if possible! Critical_Mass 10 Posted October 18, 2005 if i were going to get a cat by pass would i need to do anything else due to taking the cat off??? What is the power gain?
corradophil 3 Posted October 18, 2005 if i were going to get a cat by pass would i need to do anything else due to taking the cat off??? Nope not on a 2.016v anyway. What is the power gain? This may suprise you, but I've changed between cat and decat on mine several times, and prefer it with the cat. It feels more torquey. I personally would keep it and spend the money on other parts. I put new injectors on mine at around 140k miles and noticed a definate improvement. Plus you won't have to refit the cat for the mot.
chrishill 0 Posted October 18, 2005 theres two schools of thought on the subject where the VR6 is concerned, mine had a de-cat on when I first got it which was later swapped back onto chrisVR6nos's car (since it was his!) I noticed a difference, albeit fairly small. I've never experimented with cat/decat valvers so I bow to Phils experiance on this one.
Critical_Mass 10 Posted October 18, 2005 Its was regarding a G60. But ill go with Phils advice. Cheers lads.
