Recommended Posts

I'm not sure if I should be posting this but I'll do it just in case it is allowed, sorry if it's not.

On mininova.org, 1989 episodes of Top Gear can now be found, get them while there are still people still seeding.

Watched a video last night, of the Top Gear show that previewed the Corrado back in 1988. Tiff Needell was "quite excited" driving a prototype G60 around an airfield.

BTW - petrol was 36p per litre .

Holy crap Batman!

Bet you could get it cheaper than that too if you hunted around a bit

I wonder if after all the work Sam did hunting down this video through the BBC, whether one of the ones for download actually is the episode he managed to source.

Would be about right really!

Jim, As in my above post Jim, the episode featuring the Corrado was in 1988 - this was the one that Sam managed to get.

This was filmed & shown before any Corrado's entered this country. Tiff Needell says that "the G60 will be the first of the Corrado's to enter the country, followed by the 1.8-16v". History has proven that this was not the case & the 1.8-16v preceeded the G60 onto UK roads.

Not sure if they re-tested the car in later episodes though.

I've just noticed these have popped up on torrentspy.com and it looks like there's 1989 and 1990 up there!

Someone must have a list of Corrado appearances on Top Gear somewhere...

Edit:  The 'sporty' show car from Renault at the 1990 Paris Motor Show was the Laguna that bears no resemblance to the mundane piece of junk that became the production Laguna.

Best of all - the Seat show car looks uncannily like the new Altea...

I'm just watching episode 9 from 1990 with the review of the new Clio by a guy with a beard in a knitted tank top.

He makes a point that the interior is fully trimmed, so there's no metal on view, which is quite rare in this class!

My my, cars have come along since 1990...
