Yandards 0 Posted November 11, 2005 Just seen this article: VW Scirocco Despite the recent unveiling of the Golf based Eos Coupe-Cabriolet model it looks like Volkswagen is set to return to the proper coupe market with a new interpretation of the Scirocco. Volkswagen hasn’t has a coupe in its range since it canned the excellent Corrado in 1995. That’s ten years without a coupe in the range, though if you’re after this new model you’ll need to wait until 2008 to see it in dealerships. Unsurprisingly it’ll be based on the Golf’s underpinnings and offer a wide range of normally aspirated and turbocharged petrol engines. A diesel engine is also likely with diesel’s ever increasing acceptance in the European market. Its on here: http://cars.msn.co.uk/carnews/coupesnov05/ Looks like the 'rad left VW with a bad taste in their mouth if they are going to call the new car a 'rocco. Don't like it really - looks nothing like a 'rocco the boot is no where big enough!
dr_mat 0 Posted November 11, 2005 It doesn't say VW will call it the scirocco .. it's just *this* magazine's interpretation of what it'll be called ..

Tempest 0 Posted November 11, 2005 Have a look at this http://www.autozeitung.de/pages/auto-news/index.php?blogid=1&offset=25&page=auto-news (scroll down to section labelled Scirocco III), again just speculation at this point of time both regarding the actual design and the final name VW may give this "car". Remember they also renamed the originally intended Mk3 Rocco to Corrado :-) It's almost clear that Karmann won't be building it though, probably produced in some cheap labour country, hence in my book it's not a real Rocco or Rado. chaz g60 0 Posted November 12, 2005 not to fussed on that realy, theres nicer cars on the market and probally for less. I dont think theres ever going to be a vw anything like the rrado again , the best performance car they make now is the r32, which would be a stepup on performance but not looks.
