Definitive 24v into a (VR) Corrado thread

Didnt have those issues on mine, but the R32 may be slightly different, but I wouldnt have thought so.

 

I used Custom Code for mine too, however any decent remap should work, I think Upsolute can do it, and theyre quite cheap.

Im based in Bedfordshire. I have a freind here who has a tunign shop here who will do the immobiliser defeat and remap for 200 quid ( mates rates ).

 

Fraiser, Don't worry about the code errors, the guy Zinderapple (chris) put me onto (VAG Doctor) can do all the ECU deletes , and much cheaper than C-Code too as he doesn't ask for a remap... Infact he'll sort you a loom for £200-300 if you send in yours. He'll also come on site to help out so it's all prettey flexible....Google him.

Arent Storm Developments down your neck of the woods? Also Stealth isnt that far away, may be worth a phone call or two.

Best bet is to speak to him buddy, he can then give you a definitive answer, I think it was 300 all in.

Does anyone have a wiring diagram for the r32 engine - i need one so i can make a start on my loom. Could also do with one for a vr6 aaa engine code obd1 coilpack.

best bet is to get elsa for vw/audi off the fleabay, everything you need is on those disks.

How much oil does the 2.8 24v take? with filter change.

Can't you use the dipstick? Just top it up after turning it over...

Well its what I've done so far, I chucked a gallon in and checking the dip stick it seems spot on, but it'll be getting started this week without me being there to fuss over it so a definitive answer would be nice.

So long as it's to the top level, the filter doesen't hold that much. Or just fill up the filter before you screw it up.

Just a quicky - What did you guys do about the extra Water hose connection on the 24v block , thats is used for the aux water pump feed on the MK4 install??

 

I a running corrado hoses so will put the Aux pump in the corrado position at the side of the ehad. Did you boys just blank off the extra port??

Put the VR thermostat housing on and use that!!

 

 

I have got the VR 12v thermostat housing on!!!

 

But there are 3 water points on the front, two from the block and one from the crack pipe, the crack pipe and one of the outlets goes to the oil cooler, the other has no where to go, on the 24v golf install the third outlet is used for the aux water pump feeding into the bottom rad hose, however i'm putting the aux water pump in the stock 12v position.

 

So the third outlet needs something done...... Hence the question :?

Hi, I havent posted for a while having just read a few of the recent posts I can probably answer a few questions. If your sorting out coolant pipes pay close attention to the oil cooler pipes mine rubbed through on the fan. Regards.

i have been told by a couple of reputable vw "specialists" to change the spark plugs for E46 M3 plugs, as apparently the standard plugs are prown to throwing there ends?? and the BMW spec plugs dont?? anyone else heard this??

 

also i'm having some adaptor plates made in stainless, so you can use your old vr6 TB on the R32 engine, i was gonna use the alfa one, but being an alfa part it would probably break while putting it on :lol:

right,im another one to convert to the darkside. Mine will only be a 2.8 from a 4motion though. Engine should be on its way in the next few weeks. Hoping to use as much of the 24v loom as possible including keeping the fly by wire. Loads of excellent info on here.

Does anyone have anypics of the work neededon the downpipe?

I had a new downpipe fabricated at an exhaust place in Bristol, new flanges and flexi with a lambda boss in both downpipes, can try and post a piccy up of it when I get it back if you like?

 

Just rang the autoelectrician, he said it's almost definately going to be ready to collect on thursday night. Cannot wait to open her up, I've been driving a blue motion passat estate with a whopping 105ps for the last few months, so it should feel like a rocket ship :D

 

So excited now.....

Surely just rotate the oil cooler housing so the pipes are at the top and you're sorted. :confused4:

 

not quite as easy as that chap, but it's not really a problem anyway.

Chris, hope it goes ok buddy, that was a quick install in relative terms!! I'm still busy painting stuff and making it look prettey :Fade-color

 

PS if you took a straight edge across the top of your front wings just behind the slam panel, is the engine dead square to it? Mine is about an inch higher on the drivers side, but it looks fine because of the angle of the slam panel, was just wondering if they were all like that? Haven't got my new CV joints yet to check it against the shaft lengths....

Hi Karl, Are you aure that the 2.9 throttle body will be ok? the reason I ask is surely it is a small Diameter, if I am correct the the R32/VAG transverse 3.2 engine comes with a 75mm throttle body and the 2.8/2.9 VR6 coems with a 65mm throttle body. Surely this effect performance slightly?

Out of curiousity, when you are sending your harness away for slicing and dicing which part are you sending?

Hi Chris,

 

well i was going to use the throttle body off a alfa v6, as it bolts straight into the R32 TB, Storm use these all the time for there R32 conversions so they must work?? but i just wanted to keep it all VW :) and also the Alfa TB is 67mm in diameter. i will see how it performs when its installed but if i have any problems with it i will look into the 034 kit :)

 

i have diagram one sitting on the kitchen floor at the moment trying to figure out what each plug is for :shrug: but i notice on your JPG that all the plugs are numbered, have you also got what plug is for what?? "please say yes"

 

i'm also not sending my loom to Storm to splice the Emerald onto as i'm hopefully buying a 2nd hand DTA ECU 8) but i need to locate the R32 engine loom wiring diagram as i have the joy of splicing the loom to the ECU. But luckily for me i hope to have some expert help.

 

as you can see my loom was very much butchered when it was taken out of the donor car, so theres abit of work looming for me soon :(
