is this a 2.8 or 2.9 manif0ld?

Hi, i bought this vr6 manifold of the bay for a mere 20.00 so i had one to stick on as a spare when i get mine polished up or chromed or somethin, but was wondering how to tell if its a 2.8 one or a 2.9 one, the part numbers are

 

021 133 233 k mbf3

you can also tell by flipping the manifold over and looking at the part between the throttle body and the main part of the intake runners. The 2.9 has a lager area for airflow vs the 2.8. heres a photo illustrating ABV on the left and AAA on the right

so i guess a nice upgrade for any 2.8 owners would be a 2.9 manifold!

 

yup, guys here stateside go nuts for them since they only came on very early 92 models. The rest of the VR's all got the standard 2.8 AAA manifold.

Not necessarily! OBD2 Golf VRs have a lot more low down pull than ABV 2.9s.....largely down to the narrower bore throttle body and 'throated' intake, which speeds up gas flow. The larger plenumned intake is better for top end and indeed EIP chop up AAA manifolds to copy ABV ones. The hog out the ribbed bits and weld a plate over the top.

 

I suppose the States is the best place to sell my ABV manifold then :-)
