side protection strips

Hi all just a quick question.

 

The black strips down the side of a raddo..... Does anyone know how much and do u have to get genuine vw ones??? Mine have been removed and have damaged the laquer on the body work so I thought I would save some money as its gonna be my daily drive and just simply fit some new ones.

I think they are a silly price for VAG if I remember correctly.

 

 

You're best off trying to get a decent 2nd hand set as alot of people remove them. The one on the door can be tricky to find as they usually get bent when being removed.

Remove the sticky residue, clean the originals with some rubber restorer and re-apply with good quality double sided tape, the type that body repair shops use.

I think each side comes to about £60+ (all 3 bits)

This was roughly the quote I got from GPC last year.

 

I never bothered buying them, just left 'em off in the end

£60 quid!!! silly as hell! I've recently stuck the strip towards the back, between arch and door. Used Halfords trim tape. Didnt stay on securely first time. But did it again and its fine. Even stuck my eyebrow on with the same tape and its still nice and tightly on. Good tape i thinks.

The early ones are discontinued so it's only late ones available AFAIK
